The Secret Circle: Crystal Hassles (PHOTO RECAP)

The crystal MacGuffins have been TSC's most maddening aspect, yet "Crystal," a whole episode ABOUT THEM, was one of its best episodes to date.

  • Episode Summary

Jake, Cassie, and Faye visit Jake's grandfather, Royce, in search of his family's crystal. At Royce's house, they are faced with some alarming theories about the events that unfolded sixteen years ago. Meanwhile, Diana struggles to balance her effort to help Adam and Melissa search for the Glaser crystal with her romantic life with Grant, who starts to suspect that she is hiding something. At the same time, Callum tires to force his way back into Melissa's life, and Jane and Charles plan their next move against Blackwell.

    • Crystal Clear!!!

For bookish people, this series would probably looking worse and worse for them. The main reason is that the series takes a lot of turns way away from the book.

But for me all those changes are for the better of the show. Crystal episode is the best episode yet. It gives the audience enough amount of revelations and character development to prepare all viewers for a perfect season finale. I think the direction "The Secret Circle" is taking is clear towards something that will keep their viewers watching.

The second Blackwell child is very unexpected only if you didn't see the foreshadowing done during this episode. And kinda wise from the writers to exploit the possibility (or at least audience speculations) that Faye is the other child to actually create a diversion for the big revelation at the end of the episode...moreless
    • Crystal

Crystal was a perfect episode of the Secret Circle and I really enjoyed watching because there was a lot of character and plot development. It was great to see the return of Cassie's Grandmother. John Blackwell takes a stand to defend himself and there is some intrigue with Melissa and Callum. The other Blackwell child revelation was very interesting. There was magic, action and suspense in this episode and I look forward to seeing what happens next!!!!!!!!!moreless
    • And the sister is....

Diana, wtf? I don't expect that, but i kind liked, the episode is really good, after Blackwell arrives in the show, every single episode turn more interesting.
    • Disappointed!

So freakin' disappointing! Diana? Seriously? Ew! I saw it coming though, I knew Diana was the other Blackwell child the moment she, Melissa and Adam tried to figure out which crystal was the real one. Adam and Melissa said they couldn't find the real crystal, that their power wasn't strong enough. They ask Diana for help and suddenly the room goes all crazy and the crystal lights up... Pretty obvious if you ask me. It just didn't make sense that Adam and Melissa couldn't find out which crystal was the real one, normally two of the circle are enough to do magic, so it was too big of a hint. It kinda ruined the episode, it was too soon! I also knew from the first scene on that it wasn't Faye, she was just too intrigued and too sure that she was the other Blackwell child. I was still kinda hoping for Melissa, but when she entered the cave it was clear that it wasn't Melissa. Too bad! I hoped Melissa or Faye would've been the other Blackwell child, that would've been so much more interesting. Faye and Cassie having to deal with their new sibling status could've been so funny and bitchy at the same time. And Melissa being the other child would finally have spiced things up, her character as well as the show in general. I'm really curious how they are gonna make this interesting. I thought Diana was fine where she was: taking a step from the circle, the aussie-guy,... I would even have approved Adam as the Blackwell child, but not Diana. No way! Now she is going to be forced into the circle and the magic. She is going to complain that she didn't want this and being bossy and ugh I'm already getting annoyed by the Diana we are going to see the last episodes, or at least the Diana I'm picturing right now. I really was hoping for the best episode of the season but it didn't really satisfy me! That last scene was so corky and pointless, we already knew it was Diana and it might have been better if the others didn't know who it was. Then they could at least have done a little more with it.

However I'm loving this show and this episode was still pretty entertaining and exciting (mostly thanks to Callum). The cave scene was, though it became clear that Melissa was not the other Blackwell child, very creepy and had me on the edge of my seat. The Jane-Charles-John plot was also a better part of this episode. I didn't expect Jane to die. And I'm really looking forward to see what they are gonna do with Charles, he's getting all the bad over him: Amelia, Nick, Jane, his mother, Dawn,... I'm surprised he ain't totally broken yet. In general still an okay episode.moreless
