Irony has always been this show's specialty. People like Claudette, Dutch, and Olivia are supposed to be the good guys, and Vic is supposed to be the dirty one!! We're SUPPOSED to want the "bad" guys to go down in the end, and the good guys to come out on top. Aren't we?
Well let me tell you, if Olivia is supposed to be the "good" guy, then I don't ever want to be good. When that bureaucratic B*TCH refused to even let Vic see his kids, when she told him that he would basically be a desk jockey for the next three years and waste away in some cubicle, I wanted to reach into the screen, slap that b*tch's smirk right off her face, and hand Vic his gun and leather jacket.
Vic IS dirty and corrupt, but this show makes us like him and root for him because of his bravery, his toughness, his street smarts, his love for his family, and his singular desire to make the streets safer. The thought of such an effective cop chained to a cubicle is TOO DEPRESSING FOR WORDS.
Screw Olivia, screw ICE, and (kind of) screw Claudette for being such a self-righteous girl scout. Ronnie deserved much better, and I would prefer Vic to go down in a hail of bullets than to see him in some depressing cubicle job.
