Detectives Wagenbach, Mackey and Wyms investigate a massacre at a women's shelter, and Captain Aceveda works with Lowe on the case of a stolen bicycle. The stolen bicycle storyline was pretty dumb, but it didn't take up much of the episode and I think there were three big things that came out of it: David helps Lowe with making sure there are no secrets, Lowe saves David when the kid wants to incorrectly accuse him of something, and David decides to buy the kid a new bike when he cannot find the old one on the streets. So while a stoeln bike may have seemed pointless, it actually did come with a lot of really strong scenes. The other portion of the show was actually really good. Once again I think that Cutch and Claudeete have the worst scenes of the episode, I just don't connect with either character enough to care what's going on. Vic continues to make sure he keeps his family safe and works on the new case in the meantime. Seeing Vic's new C.I. die kind of sucked, just ebcause we knew her from season one and she certainly made a lot of effort to try and clean herself up. In the end she was too overcome with money and she put herself in a dangerous situation. The scene in the hotel was easily the best of the episode and one of the best of the season. Overall - Really strong episode where only Dutch and Claudette failed to deliever for me.
  • I can't believe I missed out on watching this show for so long- The Shield is one of the consistently best shows on TV (at least the first 2 seasons; that's all I've watched so far). This episode is one of the reasons why.

The episode opens with Aceveda confronting Vic- he has found out about Armadillo greenlighting a hit on the Strike Team. Vic is understandably spooked, so he installs a security system and assigns a PI to watch his family. Danny and Julien arrive at a chilling scene of carnage at a women's shelter, and the rest of the ep swirls around that central event. This is one of the things The Shield does so well- involving the whole Department in one case, which they all work from their own unique perspectives: Dutch and Claudette try to get a handle on the killer's profile; Vic enlists Connie, who now wants to be a police informant to smoke out a prostitute who may know the location of the suspect. Danny continues to have problems with Yahssira, and Julien hits the street with Aceveda, who is on uniformed patrol for the day as part of a new program.

The episode ends with a tragic reminder of the dangers these guys face every day.

    Another incredible hour of television.

Every episode of the shield so far since the first episode of season 1 is a must see. This episode has another great case and some little comedy, great suspense and of course the ending, the ending! It's tragic and the shield has never been full of ideas to carry it on. Spoiler review

Even though there isn't much in the way of character problems during this case of the women's shelter killing it really ends up paying off in the end with one of the best takedowns in the show so far.

The show opens with some pretty incredible suspense with Julien and Danielle searching the broken into women's shelter, with a bunch of dead bodies one after another and not seaming to end (pretty graphic) I really thought that something was going to go down with all the lights off and then when they hear a noise. Great buildup

The only other thing that really goes on other than the case is when Julien and Acivado are on the street and accidentally steal a kid's bike they thought belonged to another kid, funny stuff. Then of course it's the negotiation in the final bit. Of course Chiklis is on top of his acting game, he always is. The more I look on it the more possibilities that could of happened but it did end the way I first thought it would, it was a shame to see Connie go there could have been more stories about her interfering with Vic's life but we'll never know.

Poor woman... never got to see that bonus she needed.
