The episode seeks to add dimension to some of the characters. A good idea, but the results are somewhat mixed. Lemanski gets some choice screen time in a plot that finds him conflicted about his role in the shooting and cover-up, and attracted to the sister of the man he shot. Vic is in his usual take-charge, fix-it-by-any-means mode, but his constantly being on the streets is wearing away at his wife's patience. Julien is mostly MIA in this epi, but in a couple of scenes with Vic, it is established that the friction still exists between them, though Vic is trying to reach out to him. Aceveda levies a minor punishment on Julien for recanting, but goes relatively easy on him.

Dutch is around mostly to play off Claudette, who is miffed that her father has shown up and is trying to broker peace between her and her daughter. It is nice to see CCH Pounder getting an opportunity to stretch her acting muscles, but I found myself wishing for a different storyline for her. This one just didn't do it for me.

A good episode for series purists (like me), but could probably be skipped by casual viewers without missing anything essential.moreless

Thumbs up to every piece of writing that didn't involve Claudette and her family. I don't understand the point of having so much of this episode focus around Claudette and her problems with her daughter. If the show uses something in the future that might tie her current man to something, then maybe it will become better in hindsight, but for this epsiode that remains to be a thumbs down. I liked how Dutchs new girl came into the station for a brief scene, with the writers just showing us that they didn't just make him hook up with some random girl for no reason. Lemonhead hooking up with the girl was anothe rinteresting storyline. He had been left out of a lot of episodes, but he really brought it to the table in this epsiode with the fight scene that allowed Vic and company to set up the fake bust (another great part of the episode). Vics family storyline is beginning to go stale and I dont think the looming possibility of divorce is going to make it much better. I liked the episode overall, just thought Claudettes part should have been reduced.moreless

Ronnie: No no no, I really want to move.
Cacuzza: Right, and a man is just as good as a vibrator. What are you up to?

    • Claudette: ...I learned some interesting things.
Dutch: So did I. You were a classical dancer when you were a teenager?
Claudette: Okay, my father is now off-limits to you. Where is he?
Dutch: How could you not share that?
Claudette: I only studied nine months.
      Dutch: In Paris!
Claudette: Here, do your thing with these and stop stalking me.
