Episode Summary

20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice!
Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Morgan Spurlock documents 20 years of Our Favorite Family.

Who was the Episode MVP ?

  • No 3-D content, no animation, just another documentary on the history of The Simpsons.

Before you all go out and buy your 3-D glasses to watch this special, be aware that regardless of the title, there is no 3-D footage whatsoever. So put away your Avatar, Saw VI, or Chuck glasses, all the title is referring to is that this is not an animation episode, it is a "Making Of" "Documentary" so you get to see 3Dimensional people (in 2D) talking about the first 20 years of The Simpsons. Also there is nothing On Ice either, so I don't know what that is supposed to refer to at all. The nearest I can figure is either the narrator is On Ice, or they recommend the viewer be On Ice to make this watchable. Actually, being On Ice and wearing 3-D glasses may actually make this documentary more interesting...moreless
  • It was OK

Yea, people being upset over the title, get over it, Morgan Spurlock even admitted it wasn't going to be on ice or in 3-D, it's a joke obviously. That shouldn't make the special itself bad. The whole thing was pretty interesting. It was fun seeing the Simpsons hardcore fans, like the one with some 30,000 merchandise. The guy who imitated Homer was impressive!

The end with Conan O'Brien telling us how he'd end the show was awesome!

The only thing I would've liked is them acknowledging the decline many of us feel has happened. I know the special is about the good times, but they should've acknowledged that.

    Overall grade- B-moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (1)

    • Morgan Spurlock: If you had to write, uh, the ending of The Simpsons, how would it end?
Conan O'Brien: Marge is gonna take a good, hard look at Homer and say he's so stupid and he's screwed us over so many times. It'll be humorless. It won't be funny. It'll just be her looking at Homer and saying, "You are such a stupid son of a bitch. I, you're endangering my children. You've destroyed the town 600,000 times. You're, you, you're a threat to mankind. I'm leaving you. I'm leaving you forever."
