  • Trivia

  • Quotes

    • Homer: I'm in an abusive relashionship with life.
It keeps beating the hell out of me and I'm too cowardly to leave it.

    • (Moe enters to find a bonfire in his bar made from burning 'Hope Tree' hats)
Moe: Thank god there's no alcohol in this pub, or then it would really go up.

  • Notes

    • Show Title: Sideshow Bob flying in the old-fashioned biplane (as seen in Sideshow Bob's Last Gleaming)before it gets struck by lightning and burns to a crisp as he gets torched as well, laughing all the way.
Billboard Gag: This is not Santa: Do not let him in. (With Snake pictured wearing a Santa hat and bearing a candy cane tattoo)
Chalkboard Gag: 20 more shoplifting days till Christmas.
Couch Gag: Four of the Simpsons sit on the couch, then become frightened when Homer arrives wielding an ax and wearing a hockey goalie mask like Jason Voorhies of the Friday the 13th movie series. The picture freezes to show the scenario as a Tales from the Couch comic book (which parodies Tales from the Crypt), featuring other characters in small insets, including Moe as the Saloon Keeper, Agnes as Skinner's Mother, and Groundskeeper Willie as the Gravedigger.

  • Allusions

    • The title of this episode is a parody of the popular 1943 novel A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith.  The novel was adapted into a theatrical film in 1945 and a made-for-television film in 1974.

    • Vengeful Pigs is a big time spoof to Angry Birds, where the birds are launched and bring down the pigs.

    • Marge is scene reading a book called "The Girl Who Regretted Her Tattoo." This is an allusion to the series of books called The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

    • Apple iPad:

The tablet that Homer won was a MyPad and Steve Jobs appears when he first turns it on. This is a parody name of the Apple iPad, a product of the company that also makes iPods and such. Steve Jobs was the CEO.
