  • A superb episode

Mrs Krabappel is fired from Springfield Elementary after Bart spikes her coffee, causing her to make a drunken fool of herself. She is replaced by a cool new teacher, Mr. Vaughn, who is a quick hit with the kids. Bart, however, struggles with the guilt and considers telling Principal Skinner the truth. I thought this was a superb episode of the Simpsons. I actually remember watching the episode and posting my opinion on this show's forums back in 2009. My score is lower because some parts are super random, such as Homer crying crazily at the new teacher for no reason and the la la la thing. Other than that, it was an enjoyable episode. As usual, Bart's pranks were really funny that it cause Mrs. Krabappel to be fired. Other parts that made me laugh include multiple of 7 video, last birthday reference, most the quotes below, and maybe 4 more parts. Overall, a superb episode. 9/10moreless
  • New hip teacher?!

This episode, is much better then the boring first episode of the season. It had loads of humor. The only things that felt odd were some very abrupt act breakers. But from the very first scene I thought this might be good. Edna wanting to open the bakery was kind of random though. But otherwise spot on, this was easily the best episode since about Eeny Teeny Maya Moe. A lot of people thought the episode would feature a lot of Twitter and Facebook, but in actuality they were barely mentioned at all, which to me, and probably several others, wasn't a bad thing. Very fresh and funny, Al Jean!moreless
  • Woah, after "Whopper" this was great!

This episode starts with Edna aspiring to have a great day, but the day ends with her taking all the kids' cell phones and such. Bart and the kids, want to cheer her up, so they mix some booze in her morning coffee (after watching Homer drunk), but that makes her be fired. Crushed, Bart visits Edna regularly, and saddens about the fact that he ruined her life. Here is a fun exchange of lines in that part: Bart: Mrs K, you have to get out of here. When was the last time you washed your hair?

Edna Krabapple: Hmm, two weeks ago...

Bart: Well, that's better than me, but still, you gotta get out

Bart wants to get Krabappel back, but is blindsided by new hip teacher Zack Vaughn, so Bart & Milhouse bu "the answer", a book to help her find a new vocation, which is a muffin store. when Edna seems happy, Bart tell her the truth and she blows up and tells him he is bad in the inside. Bart at first attmepts to get Vaughn fired, but finally tells Skinner the truth. After Zack is fired for beign drunk at school, Edna gets her job back. this season is becoming better.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (3)

  • QUOTES (4)

    • (after insult from Mrs. K)
Bart: Dad, am I bad on the inside?
Homer: No, but the layers of bad on your surface go almost all the way to the center.
Bart: But you think there's, like, a kernel of good inside me, right?
Homer: I don't know. Kernels are kinda big...

    • Bart: I'm a Simpson, and a Simpson never gives up unless he's tried at least one easy thing.

    • Mr. Vaughn: Only alcohol can make life bearable! You must drink, always drink!

    • Bart: Hmmm. You know, my Dad is a lot more fun after a few beers. Maybe Mrs. K would be nicer if we "Irish" up her coffee.
      Nelson: Put blood in it?
      Bart: No! Booze.

  • NOTES (2)

    • Show Title: Instead of the usual three-eyed crow flying across the screen, Shary Bobbins (seen in the episode "Simpson califragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious") appears.
Billboard Gag: Kwik-E-Mart. Porno now on lower shelf (with a winking Apu pictured).
Blackboard Joke: Chalkboarding is not torture.
Couch Gag: The family has a western-style shootout in the living room and Maggie trumps everyone with a Gatling gun.

    • This is the fourth episode of the series in which the title has a character getting a letter grade. The others were "Bart Gets an F", "Bart's Dog Gets an F", and "Lisa Gets an A".

    • Red Bull
The new hip teacher drinks an energy drink called Blue Bronco. This is an allusion to the energy drink Red Bull.

    • Visa
The credit card that Bart uses to open the door into the classroom is called Viza. This is an allusion to the company Visa.

    • Back To School
The movie Mrs. Krabappel is watching with the Rodney Dangerfield sound-alike is a reference to his 1986 movie Back To School.

    • H.R. Pufnstuf
The name of the muffin shop, H.R. Muffin Stuff, is an allusion to the trippy children's show H.R. Pufnstuf.

    • The Secret
The Answer, the book/dvd Bart buys for Mrs. Krabappel, is a knock-off of The Secret, a self-help book/dvd that became insanely popular after being promoted by Oprah.

    • The Facts of Life
The name of Mrs. Krabappel's muffin store is Edna's Edibles, which was the name of Mrs. Garrett's store on The Facts of Life.

    • Wal-Mart
One of the many competitor muffin stores is named Muff-Mart and resembles a real life Wal-Mart.
