  • Homer and Marge try out the Olympic

    6.0
After discovering their love of curling Marge and Homer try out for the Olympic team and actually make it to the 2010 Vancouver Games. Meanwhile, in Vancouver, Lisa develops an addiction to collecting Olympic pins. I thought this was an okay episode of the Simpsons. Another slow moving episode for the season. Once again, not huge laughs here. I just laughed at "That's love, Seymour. I'm glad you got to see it once before you die," Boob Lady cameo, and a few more. The plots here were super boring and I had mixed feelings about it so I can't decide which is better. Overall, a fair episode. 6/10moreless
  • Both Touching and Offers Explainations at the Same Time.

    10
I like this episode of the Simpsons. Not only does it show how strong Homer and Marge's love is, but it also shows why Agnus Skinner resents his son Seymore so much when it is really all her own fault. She shouldn't have been pole vaulting while she was pregnant anyway. It did, however, showed her giving him so affection for the first time, however. It even shows Bart helping Lisa for a change by helping her get rid of her pin addiction. All in all, it was a combination of softness and explaination. I give this episode a 10.moreless

Wow, this episode- terrible. That's the only word to describe it for me. I hated it, it is not only my least favorite of the season, it is my least favorite in the entire series' run. Why? I found many of the jokes to be lame, Lisa's plot was bad, Skinner continuity in the scene with Agnes in the flashback, and overall i just could not get into the plot. And a lot of the jokes seemed like they were written for kids, meaning not clever. My overall grade is an absolute F, the worst of the series for memoreless
  • The Simpsons pack their coats to go to Canada's warmest city - LOL

    9.0
After date night fails, Homer and Marge try to have fun in an ice skating rink, but it was being used for curling on the night. Perfect, with Homer's bowling skills (which didn't appear in the show lately) and Marge's sweeping abilities, they became the perfect time, and befriended Skinner and Agnes.together they competed in several competitions and ended up qualifing into Vancouver 2010 in curling as team USA.

In Vancouver a girl convinces Lisa to buy an olympic pin, but she was really a guy working with the pin-seller making people pin-addict. Lisa is in, and goes nuts with the pins, to the point of exchanging her dress & pearls for more pins.

Lisa: "Without my pearl, I'm just a big Maggie!"

Elsewhere, Marge breaks her arm, making it very hard for them to win, but after a hard match againt norway and Russia they win the olympic games gold medal. Bart makes a new pin out of Homer's driver license, called Fatovv for the 2014 Olympic in Russia. He trades it for Lisa's pearl and everything oges back to normal.

And the inuit shaman for the Movie re-appears here!moreless
  • Ugh. Just awful. Say goodnight already, Simpsons.

    2.0
The Simpsons has been on a long steady decline for at least a few years now, but this was just terrible.

Lazy, lazy writing, and just not funny. An implausible main plot (Homer and Marge become Olympians after only six weeks of recreational curling? Really?), and a weak, time-filling subplot that ends with a big yawn.

Not to mention a number of continuity issues (do the writers not remember that Agnes Skinner is not Seymour's real mother? Plus, Lisa said she sold her dress to buy more Olympics pins, but she's still wearing it anyway?) - I mean, I know this is not reality, I get that, but come on. This was just plain bad.

Sigh. I miss the "real" Simpsons, when it was good. Now it's just a cash cow, and that's a damn shame.moreless

    • When Homer and Marge play Curling for the first time, we can hear "La valse des Patineurs" from Emile Waldteufel.

    • Bob Costas announces that they'll return to sudden death overtime at the gold medal hockey game between Russian and the US in a moment, but first... Two weeks after this episode aired, there was a sudden death gold medal hockey playoff between USA and Canada.

    • When he first arrives at Canada, Homer has an encounter with the Inuit shaman he first met in The Simpsons Movie.

    • According to this episode, Marge is left-handed.

    • In this episode Principal Skinner's mother blames him for fouling up her chances for Olympic gold by kicking the pole vault bar while he was in the womb. • QUOTES (2)

  • NOTES (1)

    • Show Title: The Simpson family clad in old-style clothing flying over in a car similarly designed like the one from the 1968 movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
      Billboard Gag: None.
      Chalkboard Gag: None.
Couch Gag: The scene switches to the inside of a gypsy wagon where a fortune teller passes out tarot cards with each of the five Simpsons pictured. She deals Grampa the Death card with Maggie pictured, but he quickly deals it back to her and she collapses on her chair.

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Harry Potter
Harry Potter is referenced in this episode through the sport of Quidditch watched in Moe's Tavern, and a quote from Moe- "They shouldn't be playing when there are seven Horcruxes left unfound."

    • Miracle on Ice
Bob Costas' "miracle on ice" line in reference to Marge and Homer's curling success is the same infamous line used by Al Michaels when the United States upset the Soviet Union in the 1980 Winter Olympics semifinal hockey game.

    • The Real Housewives of Orange County
Marge was watching a show called The Real Housewives of Shelbyville. This is an allusion to The Real Housewives of Orange County as well the subsequent collection of series of the same name featuring wives from other cities.

    • Boy Meets Girl
The title of this episode is a play on the title of several movies with this title.
