While I'm typing this they are on season 21 and it has already been announced that there will be a season 22. How many more seasons do they have in them? Fox obviously values the show, but how long do we have until animation domination is Seth Macfarlane domination?

Word has been the show will end the 25th season, which will be a season of 13 episodes, all holdovers from S24.

However, this appears to be a rumor.

25, is a good number, it would be THAT bad. Also they can relase the complete 25 boxset in DVD and the Ultimate guide finally, not making a 1-20 kn owing that the show won't last.

Dont take me wrong, I am in the few who still love Simpsons

The show is officially renewed through 2010-11. Anything beyond that point is up to Matt Groening et al.

Personally, I think it's the show's time, maybe 2011-2012 at the very longest, otherwise though, I think it should have ended a LONG time ago, it's been steadily digging away at its own grave since season 11 ended, movie was a few hyuks, otherwise though, the show's way over its head.

Do you think Matt Groening will make another series once The Simpsons is over? Or will we just have Futurama?

Back when Futurama was getting off the ground in 2000, Matt said he'd like to do a show about a travelling rock band.

Then how do you explain the last 11 seasons of the Simpsons? :p

The last 11 seasons have still been funny, just not as funny as the first 10.

Yeah, that's what I meant. His shows starts great and then get better, and time passes and they start going downhill. Still didn't happen to
Futurama, but we will have to wait and see.

I personally found Futurama started getting bad with season 5, AND it was getting too expensive to produce, so that's why it was taken off. If the movies don't prove it deserves the comeback it's getting, though, I don't know what does.

Even though I enjoy The Simpsons, I admit it's getting stale and an end should at least be laid out.

Matt Groening is a genius, he doesn't necessarily write the new episodes though. Futurama Season 5 was really good, just one movie not very good, TBWBB.

I wouldn't be surprised if ten years from now we're still guessing what the last season of Simpsons will be. 32? 33? At this point I don't even think the death of one of the voice actors would stop them. They would find a flawless imitator to replace the deceased. Realistically though... I would guess around 25, maybe 26.

Well, I hope to see Cesar and Ugolin visit Springfield to see Bart, and they'd be noticing Bart outside when he's outside somewhere near his house when they are walking by to see Bart. And Nelson's dad and Herb to come back before the show ends.
