is rev. lovejoy catholic or christian?

    he wears the collar but preaches about being a christian, and has catholic type values but advocates christianity.

    Well, to start out, the Catholic religion is a form of Christianity. Second, he's not part of the Catholic church. Remember in the episode "The Father, The Son, & The Holy Guest Star" where Bart goes to a Catholic church, and Reverend Lovejoy and the priest are fighting because they practice different religions?

    He is a Protestant minister, it's just that some Protestant churches still have a few Catholic traditions.

    He's absolutely, definitely Protestant. It's just that the writers have gotten lazy in the past decade and have made some confusing references.

    also in the frame up episode, with mrs. bellami (sp) homer and marge are visited by a catholic priest, and then him and rev. lovejoy get into fight ex. lovejoy: o go have sex with your wife.

    hes christian. i remember a scenne from one episode where he gets in a physical fight with a catholic prest he says nice dress and the priest says go have sex with youre wife

    The religion of The Simpsons has become a small running joke similar to where they live. They never really say exactly which religion they are. They usually combine different ones together when they want to reference it. Some denomination of Christianity though.
