    On Tuesday Universal officially announced what people had been speculating for nearly a year: "The Simpsons" will be getting an attraction at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood in 2008! It will be replacing the "Back to the Future" attraction in both parks.

    From the official media release:

    "Whoo-hoo!" Universal's theme parks add animated fun and excitement to their roster as FOX's blockbuster hit series, "The Simpsons", becomes the inspiration for the world's most highly-anticipated new theme park ride. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson will ride along with guests in a new mega-attraction opening at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood in Spring 2008. Guests will be rocketed along with the Simpson family on a hysterical, almost unimaginable adventure. They'll experience a side of Springfield previously unexplored as they enjoy the new ride's interpretation of the thrill rides, dark rides and "live" shows that make up a new fantasy amusement park dreamed up by the show's cantankerous Krusty the Clown. It will feature the show's classic humor and many of its instantly recognizable characters--all voiced by the original actors.

    Yah it sounds awsome but it it pisses me off that it is going to replace there back to the future rides

    They've been planning on getting rid of BTTF at both parks for years now (because "no one cares about those old '80s movies"), but I'm glad that they're putting "Simpsons" in its place and not "Fast and the Furious" (which was also rumored ro be replacing BTTF).

    I'm on the crew working on the new Simpson's Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. I can't say much about it here on this forum (top secret) but I believe it will be a lot of fun!

    that ride makes no sense! all you do is sit in a car that keeps on shaking, while 3D images appear on a screen. Not that fascinating. It gave me a headache. OWWW!!!!

    but cool! The Simpsons will have a new ride! I wont ride it though due to my paranoia of roller coasters

    Let's see how much this is going to suck because the BttF ride was good. Only real chance anyone had these days to ride in a DeLorean, even if it was just a simulation.

    I know where im going for next year....ORLANDO!! cuz its closer... But it kind of stinks becuase Back To The Future was a good classic ride..Although, i cant wait to see what the Simpsons ride would look like

    I hope it's an actual ride like a roller coaster than just a simulation. I think it be cool if it was a roller coaster that went through the opening credits:
    You go up through the O and FLY down and speed through the tire yard and all that other crap and then take a DEEP TURN through the school and skate board through the town going UP AND DOWN jumping off trash and crap. Then you know all that other stuff happens.

    i dont like that idea, it is not that creative. Plus it wont happen, since someone is writing it, aka, a script, aka, voices, aka a simulation, hopefully better than BTTF

    Remember, we're parked in the Itchy lot.

    If kids and old people are going to be riding it, you know they'll make it so all the jokes are really tepid.
