EDIT
Homer's Paternity Coot
AIRED:
The result of Marge's anger against Quimby’s new toll road leads to the discovery of a frozen mailman and his 40-year-old mail. The old mail is delivered to the recipients, including one to Grampa Simpson's deceased wife, and it reveals a secret love affair and who the real father of her baby Homer might be. Confused and emotional, Homer finds Mason Fairbanks, his wealthy and much improved paternal dad, and happily establishes a father-son relationship with him while rejecting Abe, his surrogate father of 40 years, especially after a DNA test reveals that Mason is indeed his real father. Homer joins Mason on an undersea treasure hunt and when Homer’s life is in mortal danger he reflects upon his childhood and realizes who his true father is. When he confesses that to Abe, Abe has a confession of his own.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Grampa writes his name in the first slot for a heart donation. The following names are already on the list: Montgomery Burns, Jasper Beardly, Old Jewish Man, and Jebediah Springfield IV.

    • Music From This Episode
"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper (Homer imagines what his true father would be like.)

    • Jasper's last name is revealed to be "Beardly."

    • Goof: While in the waiting room, just before being told the results by Dr. Hibbert, Mason Fairbanks is wearing a dark blue coat, but when Dr. Hibbert points to him a second later, he's back in his sweater.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Marge: See Abe, we're still visiting you, even though we have no biological obligation!
Bart: You've said that three times already!
Marge: Well then you think of something!

    • Mason Fairbanks: Whatever happens Abe I hope we can be civil.
Grandpa: Oh poop in your fist!
Mason Fairbanks: At least I can make both.

    • Grandpa: I'll be waiting for your apology on the 'old man' bench at the mall. I sit by the trash so people have to come up to me.

    • Homer: So this guy might be my real father. And his name starts with M… Moleman? Mr. Burns? (gasps) M. Night Shyamalan? That would be a twist worthy of his increasingly lousy films!

    • Lisa: So, what setting is that fan on?
      (Three seconds later)
      Grampa: Medium.
      (Three seconds later)
Lisa: Hmm. I would have guessed low.
      (Three seconds later)
Grampa: You would have guessed wrong.

    • Mailman: Yeah, I got a 40 year-old letter here for Mrs. Abraham Simpson.
Bart: My Grandma? I haven't seen her in years. She ran away.
Mailman: Ran away from all this, huh? What a fool.

    • Dr. Hibbert: Homer's real father is... Mason Fairbanks.
      (Everyone gasps)
      Homer: Who is Mason Fairbanks?
Dr. Hibbert: This guy. (Points at Mason)
      Homer: Woohoo!

    • Homer: (after shark eats luminous fish) Ha ha! That's what you get for being luminous, jerks!

  • NOTES (1)

    • Blackboard Joke: I am not smarter than the President.
Couch Gag: The family poses on the couch for a series of family portraits. In the 2006 and 2007 portraits the family all looks the same. In 2008 Homer is missing from the picture. In 2009 he is replaced by Lenny. In 2010, Marge is replaced by Carl. In 2011 Lenny is replaced by Jimbo and Marge is back replacing Carl. In 2012 Homer is back in robot form, replacing Jimbo. In the 2013 the rest of the family is replaced by robotic version of themselves.
