During the scene in which Homer sings about Marge, for no apparent reason Ned Flanders can be spotted in his yard with his back facing the Simpsons' yard. While Ned had no lines in the scene, it is possible that his portion of the scene was left on the cutting room floor.
According to this episode, Luann Van Houten is Danish and Kirk Van Houten is Dutch.
There is a sign at the beach which reads: "Van Houten Wedding - Please Do Not Kick Sea Turtles."
It is revealed in this episode that Marge has hazel eyes.
(At the picnic, Homer gets his head stuck in a beehive, and while trying to escape the horde, stumbles into a blueberry bush, emerging with a hive-shaped blueberry head)
Marge: I told you not to mock me at picnics!
(Milhouse's parents are lost at sea.)
Homer: Here Milhouse, why don't you cheer up with a glass of Ocean Spray. (catches himself) Oh, boy. Forget that. How about some Cap'n Crunch? (catches himself) Seven Seas Italian Dressing? Oh, no, no, no. Uhh... Chicken of the Sea tuna? Ahh. Billy Ocean CD? The History of Atlantic Records?
Marge: Stop naming things!
Homer: I want to, but I can't.
Marge: Then go to Moe's.
Homer: Good idea. I'll drown my sorrows in Anchor Steam Beer. (Looks at Milhouse) Oh ho ho I'm sorry. (Covers his mouth and leaves)
Kirk: Uh, attention, everyone. Uh, Luann and I have some big news.
Bart: Is it that you're brother and sister? Because you really look a lot alike.
Bart: Half-brother and half-sister?
Bart: Siamese twins who've been surgically separated?
Luann: No! We're getting remarried.
(Homer is searching for his wedding album.)
Homer: Where is it? I gotta find out what color Marge's eyes are.
Homer: Ah! Cha-ching!
(He goes to open the album only to find it has a combination lock, and is shut tight.)
Homer: Ohh! Oh, Marge darling... What's the combination to our wedding album?
Marge: Our anniversary.
Homer: (Pauses) D'oh!
(After Maggie gives him her baby bottle.)
Milhouse: Oh, my God! I've become the world's oldest baby. Men don't get their moo-moo from a baa-baa. They get their moo-moo from a big-boy cup!
Homer: Marge, give me a break! I don't know the colors of peoples' eyes! I just judge them on the color of their skin.
Blackboard Joke: There is no such thing as an iPoddy.
Couch Gag: The family appears on the cover of Modern Couch Gags magazine. The feature article is titled "10 Couch Gags To Spice Up Your Marriage."
Saving Private Ryan
The scene where the two cruise line officials approach the house in a car to inform Milhouse about his parents is a reference to a scene from the film Saving Private Ryan. The washed out colors, music, farmland setting and reflection of the car approaching in the window are all similar. However, in the film the men come to the house to inform a mother of the loss of her sons.
The outward appearance and clothing of Milhouse's uncle is modeled after that of fictional film hero Indiana Jones. Also, a parody of the Indiana Jones theme can be heard during the episode.
Little Orphan Annie
The title of this episode is a parody of the title of the comic strip Little Orphan Annie and a subsequent Broadway musical and film of the same name.
