When the town of Springfield discovers that Ned and Edna have secretly gotten hitched, Marge offers to throw them a congratulatory reception. However, bringing everyone together makes them all realize that no marriage is perfect. Meanwhile, Edna tries to help Ned's children become more socially acceptable by changing some of the rules.

Milhouse: My name is Milhouse Van Houten, and I am auditioning for the role of 'Child Who Points'.
Director: Okay, point stage left.
Milhouse: I prepared right!
Bart: (About the Passion play) Why aren't we doing Lenny's story? That thing's hilarious.
Lenny: Not so hilarious for me, I nearly lost a toe.
Carl: Well, that's what you get for having a monkey give you a foot massage.
Lenny: My bucket list is my business!
(Homer and Marge visit Ned and Edna in the hospital)
Homer: Welcome to marriage! Another good man bites the dust.
Marge: Homer!
Homer: I'm talking about that guy (points to a man in the other bed who has just died) ...oh, I envy him.
Marge: Homer!
Homer: I mean...I envy Flanders, once again enjoying the joys of marriage. Let's put it to a vote, America!
Marge: Enough with the voting!
Moe: There it is. Another story in the classic three-act structure. Good enough for Aristotle, good enough for the Simpsons.
Show Title: The Channel 6 newscopter flying by with a very long banner with the message We don't hate you, Fox News. We just love MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, BBC, ESPN and Al Jazeera more.
Billboard Gag: Sleazy Sam's: Remember that name (with Sleazy Sam pictured).
Chalkboard Gag: Call your mother during the commercials.
Couch Gag: In the living room, the Simpsons lay down in virtual tanks, leading to a parody of the hit 2009 movieAvatar. After seeing themselves as Na'vi on planet Pandora, they frolic in the jungle before coming to a canyon where they try to tame wild flying couches with wings. Homer drops down the canyon, but fails to land on one, returning battered and bruised to the family. However, Bart succeeds, takes control and gives the rest a ride to another area of the jungle that has a 3-D HDTV. At first, it's powerless, but Bart plugs Homer's ponytail into a nearby socket, enabling it to work as the family put on their 3-D glasses.
Marge: Enough with the voting!
This line is a reference to a poll in which viewers were asked whether Ned and Edna should get married ("Pro Nedna" or "No Nedna"). This episode revealed the outcome that they did in fact get married.
