  • With more memorable lines in this one episode than many series achieve throughout their entire run, this is one you'll need to watch with remote control in hand, so you can pause to finish laughing before the next joke comes along.

It is tempting to spend this review as nothing more than a recitation of the many memorable lines and scenes from throughout this show. It's all here. Homer, sounding the alarm about the boogyman (or boogymen!). Homer, denouncing the gamling addiction that has seized Marge. ("I call him Gamblor!") Homer, serving the kids a dinner consisting of nothing but Tom Collins mix and cloves. Homer knocking out the former world heavyweight champ with one punch.

Despite the many brilliant comic moments, what really sells this episode is that relentless stream-of-conciousness ricocheting from one outlandish plot element to the next. In what other series from television history could a pair of missing glasses lead inevitably to Robert Goulet performing "Batman Smells" in a treehouse?

The only poignant moment comes when Lisa (my personal favorite character) winds up with a costume even worse than Ralph Wiggim's. May she never again sink so low.
