Buck mentions the trick used on the dog did not work on David O. Selznick. Selznick (1902-1965) was one of the iconic Hollywood producers of the Golden Age. He is best known for producing the epic blockbuster "Gone with the Wind" (1939). He was reputed as being very difficult to work with when it came to the way he managed his productions. He's also remembered for introducing American movie audiences to Fred Astaire, Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Vivien Leigh and Louis Jordan as well as director Alfred Hitchcock.
