  • The Simpsons goes international once again!

    8.5
I liked this episode. The Simpsons have travelled to many countries around the world over the course of series, but Iceland is one of those countries that doesn't seem to come up often.

When Moe and 3 of his "best customers" (Homer, Lenny and Carl) win the lottery, Carl takes the money and runs off to his homeland of Iceland to use it to the clear the name of his adopted family, all the while denouncing his friendship with the others.

I will admit that while the humour was a little dry compared to most of their other international episodes ("The Italian Bob" felt a bit lacking, as well), it was great to learn a couple new things from this episode, not only that Carl is Icelandic and adopted, but that Iceland is a unique country that does not use surnames, but rather the name of their father plus the prefix "-son" for sons and "-dottir" for daughters.moreless

Homer,Lenny,Carl and Moe play the lottery and as "big surprice" they win.

Carl steals the money, flies back to his parents for some riddiculous reason, renounces his friendship with Homer and the bunch, Lenny comes off a bit desperate to the point I asked myself if he is gay for Carl (remember the time Moe said "I will out the one of you that's gay" ?).

Marge interveens and convinces them in about 35 seconds not only to stop trying to kill Carl but also to forgive him for stealing 200.000$ and telling them he was never their friend.

Best part of this story is that Carl actually comes from a long lineage of traitors but in the end a whole nation forgives the Carlson family because according to the guys Carl is a good friend because he helped them move and paint some windows or something.

All in all it was soooooo bad it conviced me to write my 1st review of an episode ever.moreless
