  • paranormal activity was awesome

    8.5
Paranormal activity was great! The greatest story ever holed was okay.
  • The Simpsons continues its annual Halloween tradition with the twenty-third installment of the "Treehouse of Horror" series.

    7.0
This chapter in the long running series is no classic, but it does have its good moments. The opening segment was well done. It certainly got the episode started off on the right foot. If you blinked you missed Kang and Kodos. It may have been for a half a second but their string of appearances in all "Treehouse of Horror" episodes is still intact. I did not care for "The Greatest Story Ever Holed". It had a clever concept, but it ultimately wound up going nowhere. The segment's abrupt ending did not help it very much. "Bart and Homer's Excellent Adventure" was better. Jon Lovitz has always done well as Artie Ziff. As is usually the case with this series, the final segment was by far the best. A very clever take on the popular horror film series. I think it even improves on the films by actually showing us the demon. Maybe "Paranormal Activity" will get around to doing that soon.moreless

    • When the Simpsons came out of the black hole, Homer still has his left with long fingers. But when he points out to the aliens that the stuff is all junk, his left hand no longer has long fingers.

  • QUOTES (0)

  • NOTES (1)

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • The segment titled Unnormal Activity is based on the Paranormal Activity movies.

    • The Greatest Story Ever Told

The title of the segment "The Greatest Story Ever Holed" is a take on the title of the 1965 film The Greatest Story Ever Told. The movie is a retelling of the story of Jesus Christ. The movie was directed by George Stevens and stared Max Von Sydow as Jesus.

    • Back to the Future

When Bart uses a car to go back to 1974 to buy a comic book and to see Homer And Marge in High School. This is a parody of the 1985 movie Back to the Future where a High School kid (played by Michael J. Fox) goes back to 1955 in a DeLorean to see his parents in High School and to get them together to attend a dance.

    • Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure

The name of the short Homer and Bart's Excellent Adventure is a parody of the 1989 movie, Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure where 2 High School Students (played by Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) is almost failing their history final and gets help from Rufus (played by George Carlin) and to use a phone booth as a time machine to get historic characters to speak at their High School.
