Colonel Austin is called to testify in a case concerning a politician's responsibility in an airplane crash.
Pat Hingle portrays senator Hill, a good man, but on a fast physical decline. Against all odds Steve lets him fly...
After surviving a ferocious weather storm, another crash, which leaves him burned and blind, and an attempt on his life by Hill's aide, Steve still is able to repair the small plane and bring the passengers home.
In essence this story handles the dark and corrupt powers behind the well-willing politician. (This is 1974, Nixon & Watergate?) The same material could fill half a season of '24', but being a series for 'ALL'-viewers, it is not surprising that the surface is hardly scratched.
So the only bits of interest are Steve's social interactions. With the same speed and heat, he falls out with Oscar and charmes the control tower girl.
Not a high flying episode.
