Before leaving on a delicate assignment in China, Steve pays a visit to his mother. Being raised by stephfather 'Jim', he only knows his real father, Carl, disappeared during W.W.II while on mission in the Far East.

A short, but very appreciated, cameo appearence from George 'Sulu' Takei as a montain guide introduces the bionic man to the rocky wilderness of the Himalayas. Rocky, because in this 'Himalaya set' there's no montain to be seen...

After fighting off a Chengis Kahn-like leader and his tribe, Steve can take the sad but comforting truth about his dad, not being the coward from the title, back home.

This story is very similar to the 'Little Orphan Airplane' episode, but all the peculiarity comes from the emotional impact this mission has on Steve.

Colonel Austin is a real man with parents and ordinary human feelings.
