Catherine of Aragon was the daughter of the Spain King Ferdinand and Isabella. When Catherine was sixteen, she was married to Henry's older brother, Arthur. A year after their marrage, Arthur had died in 1502. Seven years after the death, Catherine was able to marry Henry, who had just because king. Henry believed that his marrage to Catherine would make Spain an ally in the war against France. After the war, Catherine was proven to be "a warrior queen" an excellent strategist, just like her mother Isabella. Catherine had gived birth to six children in her lifetime. Only two of whom had live for a short while. Catherine's first birth was a son, but unfortunatly he had died 52 days of the birth. Her second birth was a daughter, Mary, the only one who had survived out of all of her birth. After twenty years, Catherine was still unable to produce a son. Henry soon had became tired of Catherine and fell in love with one of of women from her court, Anne Boleyn. Henry had wanted to get his marrage annuled, but since he was a catholic, he couldn't get it permission from Rome. Because of her connections with higher power, she was able to have the annulment set back for many more years. Henry's new girlfriend, Anne Boleyn said that he should break away from the catholic church and get the annument that way. Henry sent Catherine in captivity and sent Mary off to Scotland. He finally got the annulment and then married Anne. He sent Catherine away and forced her not to see her daughter, who was now called a bastard. She had a very bad relationship with Henry's new wife and Anne had tried to do what she can to forbbid Henry to see Catherine. She died at the age of 51. People thought that she was poisoned because of Henry but an autopsy reveiled that she had grown a tumor around her heart saying that the old expression, She had died of a black and broken heart.moreless
