  • Why THE SMITH FAMILY failed

    1.0
Ron Howard himself admits the show was terrible although he was thrilled to work with Henry Fonda. The teen brother and sister were bland and totally unrealistic as 1970s characters. The kid brother played by Micheal James Wixted always sounded like he was fighting back tears whenever he spoke. The family responded to potential crises situation in a calm unrealistic manner. In an era of shows such as All In The Family giving us characters dealing with realistic problems in a way we could understand and possibly identify with, The Smith Family was totally out of touch and even made The Brady Bunch seem gutsy by comparison.moreless
