    • Instead of a traditional explosion, the Goblin's pumpkin bombs emit a green smoke accompanied by a sinister laughter every time it detonates.

    • Eddie Brock appears in this episode as the heartbroken Gwen Stacy's date, but doesn't speak.

    • It was never revealed if the Green Goblin is really Norman Osborn or his serum induced son, Harry.

    • This episode takes place on the same day/night as the previous episode "The Invisible Hand".

    • This marks John Jameson's first appearance in this series.

    • The Goblin's Glider has a built-in razor on the front, like most recent adaptations of the character.

  • Quotes

    • (Gwen Stacy and Eddie Brock watch as Mary Jane and Flash become the King and Queen of the dance)
Gwen Stacy: Okay, I know it's totally petty, but seeing Peter's date curled alongside Flash... makes me smile.

    • Spider-Man: Ah, where are my manners? Here you come to terrorize the Tombster and I don't even say thank you. My only excuse is that you're also holding innocent people hostage, it's confusing to my poor Spider-brain.
Green Goblin: Yes, quite the puzzler, but the Green Goblin has a solution: You and I join forces! Consider what we could accomplish by combining our powers. We could rule New York!
Spider-Man: Are we talking Manhattan or all five? Nah, sorry. I make it a rule not to partner with anyone green... or psychotic.
Green Goblin: Oh well, your loss... of life!

    • Green Goblin: May I see your invitation, Spider-Man? Otherwise, I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave.
Spider-Man: Leave now? While table seven still needs horderves?

    • (After the hostages are freed and Green Goblin's henchmen are arrested)
      J. Jonah Jameson: Robbie, I got your headline: "Colonel John Jameson saves New York's Elite!"
John Jameson: Dad, there could be an investigation that could scrub me from the mission!
      J. Jonah Jameson: (Groans) Robbie, scratch that headline. Give the credit... (Mumbles) To Spider-Man. To Spider-Man confound it! But fire Parker, the kid never showed up! What?! What do you mean he just e-mailed photos?!

    • Sally Avril: (Upon seeing Peter Parker with Mary Jane) Geeks like Parker do not get girls who look like her! I mean us!

    • (After saving the building from exploding, Spider-Man gets a small applause from Tombstone)
Spider-Man: You know, an applause from you makes me wanna shower.
Tombstone: Perhaps, but someone should point out that I offered you a handsome salary to do just the sort of thing you did tonight. And instead, you did the Big Man's business for free. That, my heroic friend, is what grownups call "irony."

    • Spider-Man: (Kicks the Green Goblin) That's for making me protect Tombstone.

    • (Gwen and Eddie see Peter and Mary Jane together)
Gwen: He said he wasn't going... guess he meant he wasn't going with me.
(Gwen walks away, sad, while Eddie glares at Peter)

    • Spider-Man: (After one of the Green Goblin's razor-bats slashes his costume) Hey, did I mess up your costume? Leave off the threads, Emerald Elf. And that's an order!
Green Goblin: Ah, but the Green Goblin does not take orders from insects. The Green Goblin swats them to oblivion!
Spider-Man: See, that's a common misconception. Spiders are actually arachnids.

    • Flash Thompson: How did Puny Parker end up with her?
Gloria Grant: He cleans up well.

    • Tombstone: What do you hope to accomplish here tonight?
Green Goblin: So the whole "wanting to destroy you and take over your empire" thing wasn't clear? Well, darn.

    • Spider-Man: (To Tombstone while searching for the bomb) I'm surprised you're sticking around.
      Tombstone: My party, my mess.

    • Spider-Man: (While webbing up Green Goblin) Now, what's so funny?
Green Goblin: Just the special fire and brimstone pumpkin I left behind as a present for our Mister Lincoln. Any minute now, the creme de la creme of New York City is going to paint the town red! (Laughs) Well, the ballroom anyway...

    • Tombstone: Your timing is impeccable.
Spider-Man: So, your latest superloser turned on you, Tomby?
Tombstone: I don't know who he is, yet, but he's not in my employ.
Spider-Man: That's okay, I can always pretend he's yours while I trounce him. I'll still feel all warm inside.

    • Flash Thompson: So, Parker, you actually got yourself a date. I mean, sure, Mary here's not the twenty year old you wanted to bring, but at least she's non-fictional. So I guess you win the bet. (Laughs)
Mary Jane Watson: (To Peter) What'd you bet?
Peter Parker: (Blushes) Loser dresses as a cheerleader for Halloween?
Mary Jane Watson: (To Flash) Well, big boy, I hope you got the legs for the skirt.

    • Spider-Man: Okay, where's the dude with the nasty 'tude? (Dodges a sudden barrage of lasers from behind him)
Green Goblin: Present and accounted for!

    • Spider-Man: (To the audience) The dictionary defines defenestration as the act of throwing a person or thing out a window. (Cut to Spider-Man being thrown out a window) Really not my favorite word...

    • Green Goblin: You know the old saying: if you can't join them, beat them!

    • Spider-Man: Okay, if I were an evil pumpkin, where would I hide?

    • Spider-Man: (Crawling through a hole in the window) Um, excuse me, is it alright for me to enter through here or do I have to break in my own window?

    • (Spider-Man falls with one web-shooter empty)
Spider-Man: Don't panic Spidey, you still have one web-shooter left. (Uses it, finding out its empty) Okay, now you can panic!
