Hmm, do you think they'll still try to make a couple of DTVs?
    Honestly?
    No.
They didn't even give a reason for cancelling it, so I doubt we'll get any DVTs.

This has got to be one ofthe stupidest thing I've ever heard. they cancelled an aamzing show with an engaging storyline for another Spider-Man cartoon to be aired next year. I am so sad tp see this show go. I was really into it and to see it canceled. It left it at a cliffhanger for goodness sakes. Nw I'll never know how the love triangle with Gwen, Peter, and Harry turns out. In addition, learn how Norman osborn escaped that explosion.

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the fans, the quality of the show - and sometimes not even the ratings - it's all about DOLLARS - that's it. None of these networks care about the people who get enjoyment out of these shows, these characters, the hard work of the writers, etc. They only care about how much money they project with computer models that they'll be able to make next week, next month, next season, next year, next decade if they do A, B and/or C. Some think the fans scored a big win when they got Disney to produce a 4th season of 'Kim Possible' - at best the fans got the network to take a second look at their computer projections. I don't like talking like this - it feels like telling a kid the Easter Bunny isn't real - but it's just the way it is. This incarnation of Spiderman was the most fun to watch - the voice talent did a great job, so did the writers and animators - unfortunately it wasn't going to maximize dollars for Disney.

I'll miss this show... it had some really great stuff in it. Anyway I just hope the new one is at least as good...

I doubt it will be. This show was something special, it could have been Batman: TAS good, in terms of success. Sigh, what could have been.

I guess I'm sick of first meetings. The first time he met this villain, that villain, now a new series that is going to be another round of first meetings. Why in North American pop culture, can we not keep something going for a while, and actually build up the continuity? Why are constant reboots being forced down our throats?

Of course... in a couple of years I will watch the new Spider-man show, because he is one of my favorite fictional characters. However, if it is not better then Spectacular, I will continue to mourn.

I agree. I won't watch it, no matter how good people say it is. I'm not going to continue to invest my time and heart into something that is most likely going to be cancelled anyway. Especially IF it's a quality series.. as per this, AND Gregg's other project.. Gargoyles. Quality doesn't matter any more. It's FAST revenue. If it doesn't make money right away, or falls the least bit short of the bottom line, it goes... and we start again. No more. I'm done.

Actually, Spectacular was doomed from the start. At most we would've gotten one more season, but with Marvel getting their rights back from Sony there wasn't going to be another season of Spectacular (nobody's fault, really, contractual stuff wouldn't have allowed any of the staff to work on the show when it was Marvel's, so a new show must be done)

Now with the Marvel/Disney partnerships it's pretty much in the bag that Ultimate Spider-man, The Avengers and Hulk will get a full run without worrying for the crap that got this and Wolverine & The X-Men cancelled.
