  • I'm not Max Dillon any more,I"M ELECTRO.

    7.5
Nothing special, but that does not mean it was bad, just alright.

The episode starts of as just any other day in the life of Peter, but of course nothing lasts.

It all starts when his teacher asks him tutor Liz Allen(snobby, bratty, cheerleader) and Max Dillon becomes Electro.I won't say any more for spoilers sake.

Electro transformation was cool and the episode sets up the Lizard for the next one.

Also Liz Allen gets one of her biggest roll of season one,I have only one problem with here is Liz was more annoying then she is later on.

again nothing special, but still good. PS:Nice fight scene with Electro and Spider-man.moreless
  • Max Dillon works for Doctor Connors and he accidentally becomes Electro!

    10
This is the second episode for the first season, and so far, it's doing great. This episode not only has Electro, but it sets up for the next episode with the Lizard, which is called "Natural Selection." Max Dillon was upgrading the bio-electric filter for the Eels/Rays' tank. I like how the writers changed how Max became Electro. In the comics, he became Electro when he was struck by lightning while working on a power line. In my opinion, that seems unrealistic. In this version of Electro, it seems more logical and realistic. The filter shocked Max, thus sending him backward and colliding into the tank of Eels/Rays and bio-electricity. The combination of both the electric shock from the filter and the tank filled with bio-electricity allowed Max to create a constant stream of bio-electricity. That's just my theory. While Electro was fighting with Spidey in the lab, Electro shocked the Lizard DNA serum that Doctor Connors used to help regenerate his arm. Somehow, the shock from Electro triggered a reaction in the serum, which will most likely lead to the creation of the Lizard.moreless
  • Maintains the writing level of the premiere.

Unlike the identifying of Randy, I was able to pick up on the cellphone dial tone immediately (which would be impossible to miss).

In Flash's defense, he did get a higher grade than Liz, so maybe Mr. Warren was a little too judgemental of him (interms of how he would function as a tutor). I'm half serious and half joking about this of course.

Not being able to have coffee for the rest of my life, I certainly hope I wouldn't go mad.

Many people compare Liz to Paulina from Danny Phantom, but the fact that she feels some remorse after Peter leaves says that she has more depth.moreless
  • Max Dillon gets shocked in a huge accident and becomes a freak, he becomes very angry and attacks Dr.Connors and becomes the new villain Electro

    9.4
An electrician named Max Dillon becomes the supervillain known as Electro after a freak accident and it's up to the Spectacular Spider-Man to stop his rampage. Meanwhile, Peter tries to tutor the popular Liz Allen. This episode was pretty good. We got to see the birth of Electro.I really like this spiderman series they portray the characters really well. That whole curfew thing is kindof annoying though i think Peter should tell his aunt the truth. The fights between Electro and Spiderman were pretty good. Liz was really annoying i cant believe after all that Peter did she turned on him Flash is also an @SS who really needs to be beat up by spiderman.moreless
  • Peter Parker trys to help Liz Allen with her Study, Meanwhile Spider-man fights a new villian in town Electro. And This episode made way for Curt Connor to become a Lizard!moreless

Like I said in the show Reveiw, this episode is so far my favorite. I like how they introdue Electro in this episode. I like the part where Spider-man remove electro mask to make him even more furious! All Electro wanted was to be left alone and find a cure. And having Spider-man make him more angry to become a villian was perfect. I really like Peter cell phone music when Aunt May calls him, it made me laugh. And this episode lead to the next week episode of when Curt Connor becomes the Lizard. I can't wait to see that episode. I really like this episode alot and I give it a 10. It's really so far the best epissode.moreless

(Almost reaches the school until bell rings) Y'know, just once I'd like to be early for school!

  • NOTES (8)

    • Disney XD Premiere Date:
      March 23rd, 2009 @ 8:00pm (ET)

    • This episode can be seen on "The Spectacular Spider-Man: Attack of the Lizard" DVD.

    • The reason for Electro's origin in this episode was to add some realism to his powers for the 2008 audience and make it fit the story arc he's included in.

    • With his role as the voice of Electro, this marks Crispin Freeman's first non-anime voiceover role on television.

    • Dorian Harewood, the voice of Dr. Bromwell, voiced Tombstone in Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

    • During the airing of this episode, Kids' WB! ran a promotion for the "Kids' WB Spectacular Spider-Man Sweepstakes." In the promotion, two villains were "webbed" by Spider-Man. The two villains, Rhino and Sandman, could then be used to help win the sweepstakes on their official website.

    • Electro
The name first belonged to a character from Timely Comics, then another in Atlas Comics. The original Spider-Man Electro bears similarities to this incarnation's past. First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #9. Max Dillon was the son of a man who abandoned his overprotective wife and child. Wanting to be an engineer but was told he was not smart enough, he became an electrician. When he was hit with lightning when fixing a power line, he received electric powers and resorted to crime. His first act of evil was stealing J Jonah Jameson's safe. He proved such a dangerous, Spider-Man would use a special suit to protect him from Electro's power.

    • The depiction of Liz Allen differs greatly from that shown in her other incarnations. While most versions depict her as a blond and of Caucasian descent with a vocal dialect of a valley girl, much like Gwen Stacy, this version depicts her as Latin-American with a dialect that appears to be a combination of both Latino and Brooklyn accents.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Ring Tone:
Peter's ringtone that warns him when it's near 10:00pm sounds like the old nursery rhyme The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

    • Spider-Man 2: Train Scene

When Spider-Man lands on a train while trying to be in time for school, he lands in the same pose when he fought Doctor Octopus and also jumps off several buildings in the same way as in 2004's live-action film Spider-Man 2.
