The Stand is the television miniseries based on the post-apocalyptic novel by Stephen King. King's 1978 novel shows a post-apocalyptic world where society has been broken down, with violence and martial law has taken over. When an escape and spread of a biological weapon called Project Blue occurs, over 99 percent of the human population is killed. The three part book follows the breakdown and destruction of society, the efforts to contain the outbreak, and eventually the death of most of the population and the struggles of the few survivors. The novel was made into a miniseries in 1994, with King also writing the teleplay and appearing in a cameo role. The miniseries is directed by Mick Garris and stars Gary Sinise, Miguel Ferrer, Rob Lowe, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Jamey Sheridan and Molly Ringwald. A close adaptation of the events of the novel, we follow these survivors as they deal with the outbreak of the superflu, and watch as good and evil sides develop.
