Pops Staples is the late patriarch of the musical family known as The Staples Singers. Their biggest hits were Respect Yourself (which was later remade by Bruce Willis) and I'll Take You There (which was later remade by Bebe and Cece Winans with guest vocals by Mavis Staples). Pops played bass guitar and provided background vocals on most songs.
