  • Only liked the beginning

Zack and Cody are going out with some other kids and Moseby as wilderness explorers. Cody gets jealous when Zack proves to be a natural outdoorsman. So he fakes that he found food. Meanwhile, London is furious that Maddie went out with a boy she said she disliked and they trouble Carey about it. This was mediocre. I didn't like it after a few minutes. This is where I stopped liking the show.moreless
  • Not that Great. Quite funny in the first 5 or so minutes then BORING

Nothing to say much here. I didn't like it that much and its certainly not a favorite of mine. There were a few good scenes with Moseby and the boys at the start and the final scene of the subplot had its moments, but not that great.
  • This was one of the more boring episodes of the series and not a favorite of mine.

Zack and Cody join the grissly scouts and Zack ends up being the big hero in the wilderness and Cody gets jealous of this. And this is one of the most boring episodes. I don't think that I laughed even once during this episode. It wasn't funny at all and it's one of my least favorite episodes. Disney Channel shows this episode alot and I really don't know why. Like I said, the episode isn't funny and the story isn't very good. I don't have anything good to say about this episode at all. It's not a favorite of mine that's for sure.moreless
  • The twins join the Grizzly Bears and go into the wild. Zack discovers himself to be better than Cody who then chooses to cheat his way to be better than Zack. His secret is soon discovered and he admits that Zack is finally better than him at something.moreless

This show was certainly worth watching. Very funny and entertaining as well. Though there were a lot of mistakes, they weren't very obvious since the producers made sure that the audience is focused on the acting, story and characters rather than the mistakes. The producers should definitely add shows to the series because their stories are very entertaining and very good. The producers should also push through to make a season 3 and hopefully a season 4. This show was also (in a way) educational because it kinda showed you how to survive in the wild. Others should watch it.moreless
  • great episode

Zack and Cody join the Wilderness Scouts with a couple of their friends. It turns out that their troop leader is Mr. Moseby. They go to the camp to earn their scout badges. Out in the wild, the tables are turned on Zack and Cody. It turns out that Zack has the skills to survive in the wild while Cody's straight As in school can't help him catch some fish. Back at the Tiptons, London becomes enraged when Maddie starts dating the boy that she broke up 2 years ago. Carey gets stuck in the middle of their quarrel. It's a hilarious episode.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (9)

    • A koala bear is not really a bear (it's a marsupial), and since ranks in the Grizzly Bear Scouts are named after bears, koala bears would likely not be in the rankings.

    • Parts of this episode are in the opening credits (of Season 3): when Mr. Moseby spits out the tea, and when Carey gets hit with paint (the first time).

    • In the beginning, Zack's bandana is around his arm but later it is on his wrist.

    • In the opening scene, the appliances aren't plugged into the wall outlet.

    • Zack and Cody seem taller than in other episodes shown to this point.

    • When Maddie starts reading London's blog off of her phone, and the scene starts to end, the editors switch to the next scene where Bob and Cody are looking for food just as Maddie finishes says "Annoying".

    • The cabin where Cody meets the old man is the same place that Camp Knock-A-Number was. It just happens to be that Cody met Warren there, and they are there together in the same setting again.

    • The cleaning lady asks Carey for her towels. Then Maddie comes in, and the lady leaves, but she never gives or gets any towels to or from Carey.

    • When they are reciting the secret oath, the suite's door is open.

  • QUOTES (20)

    • Bob: I don't understand why my Oak Leaf doesn't smell like Oak.
Mr. Moseby: That's because it's Poison Oak.
(Bob drops the poison oak leaf)
Bob: (while scratching) That would explain the itching!

    • Merle: Hi Cody.
(Mr. Moseby spits what he's drinking)
Cody: Hey Merle. Uh, if that is your name.

    • Towel Lady: Don't let this face fool you, I really care.

    • (Cody just came back from borrowing all that food from Merle)
Zack: How did you make that basket?
Cody: I, uh, wove it together.
      Bob: Yeah, but how-
Mr. Moseby: (Water falling out of his mouth while he speaks) No, no, no, don't speak. This is a grizzly code of silence.
      (Bob looks at him weirdly)

    • Warren: This is no picnic ma'am.
Bob: It is a tough, macho journey into the deep dark unknown.
      Zack: TAXI!!

    • Mr. Moseby: Come on, scouts, let's find the fishing gear.
Warren: (Sits and everyone hears something break. Picks up broken fishing rods) Found them.

    • Moseby: (to troopers) Okay, first we need to dig a trench around the campsite.
Warren: To go to potty in...
Bob: I think I'll just hold it.

    • Zack: (to Cody) C'mon, lets go get some burritos.
Cody: Forget the burritos, Merle's brother's got a cabin...with babes!
(both run off in opposite direction)

    • Merle: You know, I haven't gotten a kiss from a woman in a long time.
      Carey: And you're not gonna.
      (Merle glares at Carey)
      Carey: Oh ok.
(Carey blows a kiss to Merle.)
      Merle: (smiling) Works for me!

    • Merle: Hey there, young fella.
Cody: Hi. Do you live here?
Merle: Yep, for a long time now.
Cody: Are you one of those survivalist guys?
Merle: No, I just moved out here to meet women.
Cody: There are no women out here.
Merle: That's not what my real estate agent said.

    • Mr. Moseby: Good work, Trooper Zack. I must say I misjudged you. I am promoting you to Panda!
Cody: But that's higher than Koala!
      Mr. Moseby: He's earned it.
Zack: Cool, does that come with anything?
Mr. Moseby: A sense of pride of and accomplishment.
      Zack: Got anything else?

    • Maddie: Carey, I'm sorry, but I've got a big problem. Cliff Parks asked me out! He's smart, he's handsome, and he's rich!
Carey: Wow, that is a problem. Does he have a brother?
      Veronica: Is he a brother?

    • Carey: I thought you said you didn't even like this guy.
London: I only said that because he broke up with me.
Carey: Oh, I see. You still have feelings for him.
London: Yes, and I'm a very sensitive girl. And now, I'm going to destroy Maddie!
Carey: Or next time you see Maddie you can just tell her how you feel. I'm sure she'll understand.
London: No, I'd rather just destroy her.

    • Bob: Now we'll all go hungry. I need to eat! I have an athlete's metabolism!
Zack: Relax, Shaq. We'll hunt and fish for our food. We'll live like real scouts.
Mr. Moseby: I like your attitude, Trooper Zack. When the going gets tough, the tough go fishing.
      Warren: I hate fish!
Mr. Moseby: You'd be surprised at how wonderful they taste when you're STARVING!

    • Warren: They dragged off all our food!
Cody: What? That's terrible! That duffle bag was part of a matching set!
Zack: Way to focus on the real problem.

    • Cody: Oh, no! We've been ransacked by a bear!
Zack: Yeah, a bear with the feet of a raccoon.
Cody: Oh, no! We've been ransacked by a bearcoon!

    • Mr. Moseby: Cody, you are a natural. I am promoting you from Teddy Bear Trooper to Koala Bear Trooper.
Cody: Thank you, sir! I'm so proud, I can hardly bear it! (laughs, but no one laughs with him) Wow, tough forest.

    • Mr. Moseby: All right, gentlemen, this is where we will set up our campsite.
      Warren: Why here?
Cody: Well, isn't it obvious? It's flat, dry, and high up. Isn't that right, Mr. Moseby?
Mr. Moseby: No, I'm just too tired to take another step.

    • Mr. Moseby: These shorts need to be 2 inches longer.
Warren: Will that make them regulation, sir?
Mr. Moseby: No, your knees just creep me out.

    • Warren: Wow, nobody said you could dress cool.
Cody: You can't. (to Zack) This is not regulation. We haven't even had our first meeting yet, and you're already breaking the rules?
Zack: Look, I didn't join up just to follow a bunch of dopey rules. I joined so I could tie knots, climb things, and start camp fires.
Mr. Moseby: Basically, all the stuff you do in my lobby.

  • NOTES (17)

    • A Happy Days episode has the same title, "Ah Wilderness".

    • When Maddie and London go near the paint they pick up paintbrushes with the color paint of what team they were in, in the 2006 Disney Channel games. Maddie picked up a paintbrush with green paint, and she was the captain of the green team. London picked up a paintbrush with blue paint, and she was the captain of the blue team.

    • When Zack is screaming on the vine on the way to the campsite, it refers to the same call that Tarzan did in the Disney classic "Tarzan".

    • Grizzly Scouts could be an allusion to the Cub/Boy Scouts.

    • This episode is similar to the Jimmy Neutron episode, "Aaauuuggghhh! Wilderness".
