It is made clear that Zack and Cody are at the mall. However the shop they go into is in the Tipton, we know this because the sales woman is in another episode and Maddie suggests that Brandi and London just shop on the ground floor of the hotel.
When Cody ordered the #8 Hotdog, apparently it didn't show Cody, Zack, or Bob either paying for the hotdog, making it look like Cody got the hotdog for free.
The name of the mall is the Malden Mall. You can tell because on the shot of Zack and Cody going through the glass doors to enter the mall, a sign says: "Welcome to the new Malden Mall".
When Cody orders a number 8, he has a bite and then it goes to a shot of Wacky Wally. When there is a shot of the boys, the hotdog is nowhere to be seen. Also Cody says later (when he had such a good day) that he has eaten a deep fried hotdog. But technically, he has only eaten a bite of a deep fried hotdog.
When Brandi asks Moseby for London, the computer that Moseby was using was off.
You can tell when Bob sneezes that it's actually fake.
In the final video of "Everything Stinks", you see Zack doing some moves that he doesn't do in the first video when they are actually filming.
At the end in the Music Video, when Zack is doing the air guitar with Cody they switch places. You see Cody on the right and Zack is on the left then it shows some effects and Zack is on the right and Cody's on the left.
When Maddie is at the mall with Brandi and London she has her uniform on, but she doesn't have her tie on.
When Zack was doing an impression of Carey (his and Cody's mom), you could obviously see that Zack was doing the mouthing and Kim Rhodes (who plays Carey) was a voice over.
Donna Cherry is credited as "Snooty Saleswoman" in Not So Suite 16. But in this episode, she's credited as "Snooty Woman."
This episode premiered on the Disney Channel in the USA the day after the two main stars of the show, Cole and Dylan Sprouse's birthday. Their birthday was August 4, while the episode premiered August 5.
Brandi says that London is barely 16, but in "Not so Suite 16", her birthday takes place half a year before Maddie's. As this episode takes place after "Suite 16", London is at least 16 and six months old.
Carey: (knocks on door) Hello is anyone in here?
Cody: (in an old lady's voice) Its occupied!
Carey: I'm sorry!
Cody: (still in old lady's voice) Its alright mum! (Zack slaps him hand)...I mean Maam!
Carey: (looks at clothes) Wow! That's a lotta numbers. (looks at saleswoman) What do you suggest for a woman on a budget?
Saleswoman: Marry a rich man!
Cody: (after the three run into change rooms) I can't believe Mum's in here. She can't afford this stuff. I should now, I do her taxes!
Saleswoman: You two again! And who's that (to Bob)? Your patrol officer?
Bob: Well, I was thinking of buying that scarf...But you can forget about it now!
Brandi: I'm willing to try if London is.
London: But you've gotta come
Maddie: I can't, I've gotta work.
Brandi: (brief pause) I'll buy you whatever you want..
Maddie: Let's shop till we drop girls!
Zack: So, what is the cheapest thing here?
Saleswoman: Apparently, you two!
Brandi: (to London) You will show your stepmother some respect!
London: (gestures to door) I will show my stepmother the door!
Director: CUT! This ain't my vision!
Zack: Sometimes you just got to say, what the hey.
Brandi: You know when I was your age-
London: When was that, 20 minutes ago?!
Carey: Zack, I cannot believe that you cut school. Cody, I really can't believe you! What were you thinking?
Cody: I was thinking Zack was right. I was a stick in the mud who only thought about homework and grades. Well, today...Today I had fun! I said "What The Hey" and lived! (Moves toward Matisse, dips and kisses her, then celebrates with Zack)
London: Brandi, don't leave. I'm sorry about all the mean things I said to you. I didn't realize you were being annoying because you cared.
Brandi: I guess I just got excited about having a stepdaughter.
London: Well how about we start by just being friends?
Brandi: I'd like that. (They hug each other as Carey enters the hotel with the boys and lays down the law with them) Boy, it's great being a mom.
Carey: Take a good look at the people in the lobby, boys. Because they have lives and you don't! For one month, that means no movies, no desserts, no television, no music. Cody, for you, no reading for fun!
London: Don't worry. I never read for fun.
Carey: Uh-huh, yeah, okay, right. (pause) Honey.
Zack & Cody: Ay-yi-yi-yi.
Bob: Mrs. Martin. I see you have some parenting to do.
Carey: And Bob, I'll be calling your mother to tell her how you spent your day.
Bob: In that case, I better go and get her something nice.
(Bob runs to a store)
Cody: Why did she come in here? She can't afford this stuff! I should know! I do her taxes!
London: (about being grounded) I hope you're happy! Brandi: A mother is never happy when she punishes her child. London: Well the child ain't so thrilled either!
Maddie: What's your favorite animal?
(Maddie and Brandi looking at London weirdly)
Maddie: Okay...What's your favorite hobby?
London and Brandi: Shopping!
Maddie: Ding Ding Ding!!! We have a match!
Moseby: That may be, London, but at least she's doing something that the other 3 haven't.
Moseby: She's trying. Remember how #3 just called you, "that kid?"
London: Oh I remember her, "that woman".
London: (to Brandi) Look, I don't need you in my life.
Maddie: What London means is--
London: I don't want you in my life!
Maddie: And by that she means--
London: You're not my mother!
Brandi: Look, I'm going to be around for a long, long time. Your father and I love each other.
London: That's what step-mother #1 said, step-mother #2 said they were soul mates, and step-mother #3 was gone before the charm was even finished. You're just another one of these. (holds up charm bracelets)
(Brandi walks away; saddened)
Zack: You know, all Cody cared about this morning was getting to school. Now look at him.
Bob: This is some of your best work ever.
Zack: I think I'm going to cry. (turns around and cries)
Snooty Saleswoman: (brings Carey some bottled water) I hope it's cold enough for you.
Carey: Well, did you hold it right next to your heart?
Carey: Excuse me, do you have any other changing rooms?
Snooty Saleswoman: (looks at dress) Ooh, size 4. Aren't we being a bit optimistic?
Brandi: Okay, you can buy whatever you want.
London: I can do that anyway.
Maddie: But I can't. Thanks, mom! (hugs Brandi)
Carey: (looking at the price tag) Whoa, that's a lot of numbers! What do you suggest for a woman who's on a budget?
Snooty Saleswoman: Marry a rich man. Or failing that, down the street, the 49 cent store.
Maddie: You two can bond by shopping.
Brandi: But she's grounded.
Maddie: Well, then you'll only shop on the ground floor.
Brandi: Well, I'm willing to try if London is.
London: Fine, but you've got to come.
Maddie: Um, I'm working.
Brandi: I'll buy you whatever you want.
Maddie: (puts closed block on the desk) Let's shop till we drop, girls!
Wacky Wally: You're Wing Lee?
Cody: You got a problem with that?
Wacky Wally: I got a problem with my girlfriend. I don't care what your name is.
Maddie: London, I heard the big news!
London: Yes, it's true! I just bought my thousandth pair of shoes!
Maddie: No, your father got re-married.
London: You call that news?
Brandi: London, it's so nice to meet you. Your father's told me all about you. (hugs London)
London: Moseby, why is this stranger hugging me?
Mr. Moseby: She's your step-mother.
London: Moseby, why is my step-mother hugging me?
Brandi: Because I love you, silly.
London: You just met me.
Brandi: I know, but I already love you. You're my daughter, and you're perfect in every way.
Maddie: Wait until you get to know her.
Zack: Hey, and there's a drawing to be in their video. Let's put our names in.
Cody: Fine. But just in case they announce the winner on the radio, I'm not going to use my real name.
Zack: Good thinking. Me neither. So, what name did you use?
Cody: I'm Wing Lee. Who are you?
Zack: Cody Martin.
Cody: I hate you.
Cody: Aw, man! We missed the bus!
Zack: Who cares? It's only school!
Cody: Only school? Only school?! Which will get me the tools to help fight disease, war, and poverty.
Zack: I'm just there marking time until I'm old enough to buy lottery tickets.
Cody: (looks at watch) 8:01! Oh, we're never going to make it on time now!
Zack: Oh, well! We gave it our best shot. Let's head to the mall!
Cody: You wanna cut school?
Zack: Why not? Look at you, what do you do all day?
Zack: And what do you do when we get home?
Zack: And on the weekends?
Zack: There's no such thing as weekendwork! That's it, I'm taking you to the mall with me! (Zack takes off his backpack and grabs Cody's) Norman, you know what to do.
(Norman takes off a fake bush off its pot and Zack hides the backpacks in there)
Cody: I don't know about this.
Zack: Well, I do. We'll kick back, eat a cookie the size of your head, and have a great time! Sometimes you just gotta say, "What the hey".
Wacky Wally: Congratulations on winning our contest, here's the director.
Director: Alright now here's the deal. You're playing a kid at the mall having the time of your life. Think of something happy to get yourself in the mood.
Cody: Like I've cut school for the first time, eaten a deep fried hotdog and stuck away from my mother without her seeing me, giving me the biggest thrill of my life?
Director & Wacky Wally: Yeah.
Cody: (speaking with a high-pitched voice) It's alright Mom!
(Zack elbows Cody in the stomach) I mean ma'am!
Cody: What's Mom doing here at the mall?
Zack: I don't know she works like 2 hours a day, she has to spend the rest of her life somewhere.
Snooty Saleswoman: You two again and who's that, your parole officer?
Bob: Well I was thinking about buying that scarf, but you can forget it now.
Moseby: Oh dear, did I just hear you say there's another new Mrs. Tipton?
London: Ah uh.
Moseby: I wish I would've known. I would have bought them an extravagant gift, although the warranties on my last two gifts lasted longer than the marriages.
London: I don't get him anything, he gets me a "Sorry I got married again without telling you" charm for my bracelet. Look I got five of them now, they're all solid gold.
Maddie: Ooo, can I try it on? (London puts the bracelet on Maddie) It's kinda heavy. (Maddie falls over with the weight of the bracelet)
The German episode title is "Stiefmutter Nummer fünf", meaning "Stepmother's Number Five".
Apparently, Zack has skipped school before, but was never mentioned in previous episodes of the show.
And wouldn't Cody have noticed that Zack wasn't there, because they do have some classes together.
The saleswoman appears again.
Matisse in real life is only 19 years old.
Zack and Cody do their handshake again in this episode and you can tell that they do it differently, because they did it in a hurry.
London wears a charm bracelet with charms from her father that are all made of solid gold. Maddie can't stand up when wearing it. This is another demonstration of London's strength. The first was in "Dad's Back".
In real life, T. Lopez (Brandi) and Brenda Song (London) are about 7 years apart, whereas there is about a 4-year difference between Lopez and Ashley Tisdale (Maddie).
In this episode, Maddie & London's problem conflicts with Zack & Cody's problem.
Natascha Hopkins (Stunt Dancer in the video) actually showed off some of her moves when she guest-starred on That's So Raven (episode: Bend It Like Baxter) as "Natasha Bubinski," the Russian gymnast.
Apparently, Cody has a crush on the famous singer Matisse from the Band "Everything Stinks".
In the end, London decides to give Brandi another chance at stepmothering, because according to Mr. Moseby, Brandi at least tried to bond with London by using stepmother #3 as an example: "Remember how #3 just called you 'that kid?'"
Apparently, Zack and Cody's favorite band is called "Everything Stinks".
Episode drew in 4.52 million viewers.
Cody orders a number 8 hot dog. This is a hot dog with chili, cheese, sauerkraut, hot peppers, and sweet peppers, stuffed with bacon, wrapped in ham, deep fried with a light mustard dipping sauce.
London gets a new solid gold charm for her bracelet every time her father gets re-married. She has five which means she's had five step-mothers. So including her birth mom, she's had six moms.
Apparently Norman has a hiding spot of Zack's belongings.
Mr. Tipton's re-marriage isn't really "big news" to London.
The way Maddie and her mom spend mother-daughter time together is cleaning fish and using their heads as finger puppets.
In addition to no movies, TV, and desserts with Zack, the additional punishment for Cody was no reading for fun. Apparently, Cody reads for fun.
For the end of the episode, instead of ending credits with another scene like they usually do, they show the music video that Cody was in.
London doesn't know animals since she said her favorite animal is broccoli.
Apparently, Zack has skipped school before, but was never mentioned in previous episodes of the show.
Apparently, Maddie is still weak from the episode "Dad's Back", since she fell over when she was wearing London's gold bracelet.
Zack and Cody enter the contest to meet "Everything Stinks" with different names. Cody enters as "Wing Lee", and Zack enters as "Cody Martin". Wing Lee wins.
This is the third time London's closet echoed. The first two were from Maddie.
This is the first time we meet one of London's step mothers.
This episode aired in Canada on August 1, 2006.
Filmed on January 24th, 2006.
This episode is similar to the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", where a kid pretends to be sick, but goes out and must hide from his parents.
"What the hey" is a euphemism of the phrase "What the [hell/heck/f**k]". The speech that Zack gives to Cody in which he says that sometimes a person has to say "What the hey" may be a reference to a speech that Miles gives to Joel in the movie Risky Business.
