- H.E.R.B.I.E.: Urban legend. No one would do anything just because they saw the Human Torch do it on TV.
  
  The urban legend that H.E.R.B.I.E. is referring to has to do with his first appearance and the Human Torch's exclusion from the 1978 Fantastic Four cartoon. Rumors cropped up stating that the show's crew were worried that kids watching would set themselves on fire to imitate the Human Torch's fiery appearance and thus was replaced with H.E.R.B.I.E. as a robot sidekick. In actuality, the Human Torch was optioned separately for a solo TV series but fell through.
  
  These rumors would crop up again three years later as to why the character Fire-Star, who possess similar powers to the Torch, without bursting into flame, was created for the series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
