  • Christopher Knight

    Himself (season 4)

    3.1
Christopher Anton Knight was born November 7, 1957, in Manhattan, New York, the second of four children: three boys and one girl. Around the time he was three, his family moved to Los Angeles, where his father, an actor, later began seeking auditions for his two oldest sons as a means of saving money for their college education. Although both Christopher and his older brother Mark tried out, only Christopher was offered parts. At the young age of seven, he began landing appearances in commercials for companies such as Toyota, Tide, and Cheerios and in television shows such as Gunsmoke and Mannix. Soon, however, he found himself involved with what would become one of the most successful television shows of all time. Partially because his dark looks matched that of Robert Reed who was already cast as the show's father, Christopher won the part of the middle brother, Peter Brady, in The Brady Bunch. Airing from September 1969 through August 1974, the show was highly popular with teenagers of that era. Although ending thirty years ago, it acquired instant syndication and has never since left the airways. Being a reluctant icon as well as having an innate interest in science and machines led Christopher to his new career in the computer industry in 1988. Constant celebrity status from youth has provided him with people skills and has proven to be excellent preparation for life in sales and marketing. Entering the industry as an account sales manager at Martec, Inc., he logged the company's first $1 million sales order within his first eighteen months, quickly becoming Martec's top performer, and employee of the year. In October 1989, Christopher took the responsibility of Vice President of Design System Marketing and Sales at New Image Industry, moving the company into 3D rendering/imaging technologies. Then in mid 1991, he, and a few other key employees successfully moved the software engineering staff and the 3D technologies into a new privately held company, Visual Software. As co-founder of Visual Software, Christopher was a pioneer in the consumer 3D graphics market. His efforts were responsible for enormous sales growth, moving the company from $.4 million annual sales to $4.2 million within 10 months. Visual Software was acquired by Micrografx in January. In late 1995, Christopher partnered with friend and associate Frank Paniagua, and founded Kidwise Learningware. This company proposed to design, produce and publish interactive edutainment products for children. Christopher served as Executive Producer, with duties ranging from production and design, projects management and sales strategy. In February of 1996, he took on the responsibility of Vice President of Sales at Adesso, a Keyboard manufacturer, providing keyboards for Macintosh and PC/Win95 systems, where he oversaw a doubling of sales within his first four months. He and Mr. Paniagua reunited again in August of 1997 at Integrated Micro Solutions (I.M.S.) which later became IXMICRO. Initially hired in the capacity of Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Christopher was promoted to Vice President of Marketing after only four months. With Mr. Paniagua, he was able to influence annual sales from less than $2 million in early 1997 to $63 million in 1998. In late 1998, Christopher would again team up with Paniagua and another associate, David Smith, to form Eskape Labs. Knight, Smith and Paniagua had all been part of IXMICRO's executive staff when the company decided to concentrate on a path divergent from the common interests of the three. Sensing a shift in the focus of the computer technology industry beyond the personal computer to intelligent devices, Eskape Labs was born. The company's mission, to provide "on wire" digital appliances that easily plug into computers, has led Eskape to develop a number of first-to-market video devices. Eskape Labs was purchased by Hauppauge Computer Works in the summer of 2000. Hauppauge is the world's largest manufacturer of computer based TV tuner products and, with Eskape Labs, now has a line of TV tuners compatible with the Macintosh. Christopher continued to work for Hauppauge Computer as the head of the Eskape Labs brand until the spring of 2003, and then as a consultant to the company throughout the remainder of the year. Mid year 2003 he became more involved on an executive level with an investment that had taken flight and was in need of interim management. Casting Networks Inc. (doing business as LA Casting and SF Casting) is an online (web based) talent exchange. Nine months from the introduction of the service to the Los Angeles commercial casting marketplace in late 2002, LA Casting had completely revolutionized the casting process by replacing archaic and time-consuming methods of handling clients' information with a much more efficient method using the Internet. While Christopher's career in the high tech industry has prevented much involvement in entertainment, it did not constitute a full retirement from show business; he has starred or otherwise participated in the abundance of Brady films, television movies, series, gatherings, discussions and retrospectives. Christopher also has utilized his celebrity status by serving as host and/or spokesperson for several projects. In 2003, for example, Christopher hosted the series "TV Road Trip" for the Travel Channel and was involved with the celebrity version of Discovery Health Channel's "Body Challenge," for debut in the fall of 2004. This year also marks the fourth consecutive year that he has been the spokesperson for the American Counseling Association's "Healthy Skin, Healthy Outlook" campaign, which has received the Gold Triangle Award recognizing excellence in public education of dermatology issues the past two years. In 2002-2003, Christopher also was privileged to be the spokesperson for the National Consumer League's "AD/HD Campaign to Inform the Nation," speaking in Washington D.C. at the National Press Club on the sensitive subject of AD/HD (Christopher himself was diagnosed with lifelong ADD at the age of 40). The campaign's laudable goal is to broadcast the truth about AD/HD, dispelling myths and tearing down the barriers of ignorance and stigma that prevent AD/HD sufferers from obtaining the proper diagnoses and medical treatments they need. Cognizant of his celebrity status and seasoned by maturity, Christopher is ready and eager to return more fully to the industry that gave him his start and to expand his public identity, but his plan to re-establish his place in the entertainment industry is not designed to displace his interests in the corporate world.moreless

  • Da Brat

    Herself (Season 4)

    8.1
Da Brat was one of the first of a new breed of hard-edged female MCs to hit the hip-hop scene during the '90s. Although sexuality was certainly part of her image, it wasn't as important to her as it was to Lil' Kim or Foxy Brown; instead, Da Brat made her name as a tough, profane rhymer whose hardcore attitude and lyrical skills were never in doubt. Da Brat was born Shawntae Harris in Chicago in 1974, and started rapping at age 11. Still a teenager, she was discovered by producer Jermaine Dupri in 1992, when she won an amateur rap contest and got a chance to meet Dupri's protgs Kris Kross. With their endorsement, Dupri signed her to his So So Def label and produced her debut
album, Funkdafied, which was released in 1994. The title track was an enormous hit, going to number two on the R&B charts and spending nearly three months on top of the rap singles chart. Its success -- as well as that of the follow-up singles "Fa All Y'All" and "Give It 2 You"-- helped Da Brat become the first female rapper ever to have a platinum-selling album. Funkdafied also hit number one on the R&B album chart, a staggering achievement for a debut release by a female rapper.

For her 1996 follow-up, Anuthatantrum, Da Brat took greater control of her music and persona, scoring hits with Sittin' on Top of the World and Ghetto Love. The album was another commercial success, returning her to the R&B Top Five and the pop Top 20. In its wake, Da Brat made high-profile cameo appearances on records by the likes of Mariah Carey, Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, Total, Dru Hill, and Lil' Kim, among others. She also made her film debut in 1996 in the Shaquille O'Neal comedy Kazaam. Just prior to the release of her third album in 2000, Da Brat was arrested on assault charges after allegedly pistol-whipping another woman during an altercation at an Atlanta nightclub. She later pled guilty to a lesser charge of reckless conduct, and was let off with a fine, probation, and community service. Meanwhile, her album Unrestricted appeared in the spring of 2000, and found her sporting a somewhat sexier image. It became not only her second R&B chart-topper, but also her biggest album on the pop charts to date, climbing into the Top Five. She also enjoyed hits with the singles "That's What I'm Looking For" and "What'Chu Like".moreless

  • Vanilla Ice

    Himself (Season 2)

    8.9
Vanilla Ice was born Robert Van Winkle on October 31st, 1968 in Miami. His father left him when he was 4 years old and since then, has had many stepfathers. In his teenage years, he was a poor student who got dismal grades and skipped school often. He was 18 when he was in the 10th grade, and dropped out of school. During the late 80s Ice made a living by washing cars. He observed the culture and dancing of some of his peers, and later signed up at a local nightclub as a performer. He was a natural at rapping and dancing and needless to say, the audience loved him. He later got the nickname "Vanilla Ice", because he was white. In the year of 1989, Ice signed up with SBK records and released his first LP, Hooked, which contained the single "Play that Funky Music" that was sent to radio stations to play. The single wasn't a huge success, and "Hooked" received poor sales. Later, in 1990, a local DJ decided to turn the "Play that Funky Music" record and play what was on the other side. That single was "Ice Ice Baby". Contrary to "Play that Funky Music", "Ice Ice Baby" was a huge success, and radio stations everywhere received requests to play that song. Ice re-released Hooked as To The Extreme, which contained "Ice Ice Baby", and it sold over 15 million copies and holds the record for the highest selling rap record ever. Vanilla Ice fever was everywhere. Soon there was hundreds of merchandise, such as a Vanilla Ice doll and a board game. Vanilla Ice was featured on a tour of M.C Hammer, which influenced his dress style. Soon, he was wearing baggy jump pants and large, loud jackets with a quote on the back. "Ice Ice Baby" was on the number #1 spot for 16 weeks, and so was "To The Extreme". A couple of days after the success of "To The Extreme", many people noticed that the bass line of "Ice Ice Baby" was very similar to that of "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie, and they thought that Vanilla Ice ripped the line off. He tried to explain that they were different by adding one note in his version. No one was convinced, and Queen and Bowie sued. Vanilla Ice then released Extremely Live, which contained music from one of his concerts. It sold 500,000 copies and reached Gold status. Later in 1991, Vanilla Ice decided to get involved in the movie business. He made an appearance in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) and then later scored his first (and last) feature film, Cool as Ice(1991). The movie was flop, having spent only three weeks in the box office before dropping out. Vanilla Ice spent 2 years taking up motocross under his real name, and completely dropped out from the music world. In 1994, he tried to make a comeback by releasing another album called Mind-blowin'. Vanilla Ice gained a new, dread-locked, dope-smoking image, and his music changed as well, talking about violence, sex and drugs. Mind-blowin' didn't last long, since SBK records went bankrupt. Vanilla Ice nearly died of an overdose of drugs, and was revived by one of his friends. He later married, and had two children. In the next 4 years, Vanilla Ice suffered a massive decline in the music world. Then, in 1998, Vanilla Ice made a comeback with his next album, Hard To Swallow. The album was a far cry from his earlier works, and featured explicit language. There was even a heavy metal version of "Ice Ice Baby", called "Too Cold". Although the album only sold 100,000 copies, it was well-received and made Vanilla Ice almost respected again. In 2001, Vanilla Ice released the album, Bi-Polar, which has a combination of heavy metal and hip-hop music. He now only makes music not so he can gain fortune and fame, but because he wants to. Vainlla Ice now resides to Los Angeles with his wife Laura and his two children.moreless

  • Brigitte Nielsen

    Herself (Season 3)

    7.7
Brigitte Nielsen is a Danish actress who became very popular in 1980s B-movies, most notably as the titular character in Red Sonja, due to her stature and sultry looks. Because of these attributes, she was termed an amazon by the press. Brigitte reached the height of her fame in 1987, when she played the assassin Karla Fry in Beverly Hills Cop II. She became famous for her love life as well, marrying actor Sylvester Stallone, her co-star in Rocky IV and Cobra, then becoming engaged to football player Mark Gastineau, with whom she had a son. Nielsen has three more children by two of her four ex-husbands, photographer/director Sebastian Copeland Orlando Bloom's cousin, and actor Raoul Meyer. Brigitte started a short-lived music career shortly after her divorce from Sylvester Stallone in 1987. She released her debut album Every Body Tells A Story in that year and recorded a song with Austrian pop sensation Falco. Body Next To Body went to #22 in Germany and #6 in Austria. Brigitte released a follow-up album in 1992, although it was not a success. In the 1990s, she hosted an English-language talk show that was broadcast across Europe, to much acclaim. The show revived public interest in Nielsen and helped her brush off the misconception that she could only be known for her beauty. Brigitte later appeared on the third season of the VH1 reality show The Surreal Life, which was filmed in July and began airing in early September 2004. In the show, Nielsen was seen flirting with Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav and it was confirmed that they were a couple, even though she was still legally married to Raoul Meyer. The show was such a success, due mainly to the interplay between the unusual couple, that VH1 produced a spin-off reality show called Strange Love, which began airing on January 9, 2005. Brigitte also appeared with Flav on the VH1 Big in '04 Awards. In January 2005 she appeared in the UK TV programme Celebrity Big Brother along with her former mother-in-law Jackie Stallone and the writer Germaine Greer. Brigitte married for the sixth time in March 2005 to 26 year old Italian barman Mattia Dessi, who appeared briefly on Strange Love. The marriage is not official, because her divorce from her previous husband is not finalized.moreless

  • Trishelle Cannatella

    Herself (Season 2)

    6.2

Notoriously charming and beautiful, Trishelle was raised in a small, ultra-conservative town in the bayou of Louisiana. Her mother, a devout Christian, was a pillar of the community and took her family to church three or four times a week. When she was just 14, her mother died from a brain tumor. After her mother passed away, Trishelle turned away from the church and sought out other means of coping with her loss. Despite this family trauma, she managed to maintain a strong GPA and a presence on several athletic teams throughout high school. With her beautiful sandy blonde hair and bikini model's body, there is never a shortage of men flocking around her.
