This was a mindless but modestly enjoyable episode, having only the most rudimentary ideas about characterisation but enlivened by its actors, notably Ned Wever as the felonious banker. Quite why this crook and Nick Charles should be so chummy is never made clear - if Nick is such a hot-shot sleuth, shouldn't he have a few suspicions about the chap? - and the second-banana bad guys are out of a B-movie or an old Monogram serial. Mightn't a few more obstacles have been placed in the paths of our smoothie hero and his adorable madcap wife? Don Weis, who never got much of a break from Hollywood, directs with more style than the script merits.
