As the Stooges exchange aces during the card game, the camera shows a close-up of both Moe and Curly's hands. For some reason, both Stooges have the ace of spades and the ace of clubs but the other aces are nowhere to be seen.
As Curly enters the saloon and turns his hat sideways, he starts walking away. The camera suddenly cuts to another shot and isn't walking and is back where he first started.
A cord can be seen pulling the monkey's hat when one of the crooks shoots it off.
Strings can be seen guiding the monkey in some scenes in the wagon.
When Curly drops the bullets in the meat grinder, the meat he had ground in the previous scene disappears.
The wire that pulls the mud out of Moe's ear is clearly visible.
(Two rusters walk by the poker table bearing a stretcher.)
Moe: Hey, what happened to those fellas?
Pete: Those are three crooks I shot for cheating in a card game.
(Larry is looking over Pete's shoulder and sees 4 kings in his hand.)
Larry: Oh! Oh!
Moe: What's the matter with you?
Larry: I just had four kinks in my back!
Curly: Four kinks!
(Moe and Curly both realize that they have two aces each.)
Moe: You know, when I get kinks in the back I generally go to the desert.
Curly: The desert?
Moe: Yeah, desert. Oasis! Oasis!
Curly: That's nothing. I've been to the oasis twice!
Moe: Me too!
Larry: (watching the poker game) I wish I could play this here game but I don't know one card from another.
General Muster: Noble work, my men! The president shall hear of this!
The Stooges: No!
General Muster: Yes.
Curly: (before running into the shack) I'll tell them we're not home!
(The Stooges have sent for the cavalry)
Moe: (needing money for gambling) How about a little credit, Pete, until our reserves get here?
Longhorn Pete: Oh, I guess you're good for 25.
Curly: Soiteny! They'll probably send more than that!
Footage from this film was used in the Stooges compilation feature Stop! Look! And Laugh! (1960).
Running time: 17 minutes 10 seconds
The chase sequences on horseback would be recycled in 1954's Pals and Gals.
The Stooges' names in this short are Buffalo Billious (Curly), Wild Bill Hiccup (Moe), and Just Plain Bill (Larry). The cultural references are to, respectively, "Wild West" figures Buffalo Bill and Wild Bill Hickock, and Just Plain Bill, the title of a long-running radio program of the era.
