EDIT

Larry and Shemp, members of the Woman Haters club, reminisce about their experiences with Jane, a diamond crazy gold digger each of them was gypped by. In both of their cases, it turned out that Jane was also romantically involved with Moe as well, and threw each of them over for him.

  • Larry and Shemp, having been jilted by a gold digger, join the Woman Haters Lodge and tell their stories in flashback.

This is one of those Three Stooges rarities that focuses more on plot than gags and also has the Stooges performing as seperate entities as opposed to a trio. The very bones of the plot may be a throwback to the 1934 Stooges film "Woman Haters", but there is lots of orginal material here. Larry and Shemp are top notch, and each has silly solo bits to do. I always laugh when Larry has a home perm and later breaks a mirror whe trying to prove his beauty. Shemp also has his moments, such as playing the piano like Liberace. Moe is strictly the straightman and has very little to do until the closing moments. Jean Willes is great as the villianous. A one of a kind Stooges entry.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • When the dishwasher sprays Shemp with hot water, he is holding a bowl. In the next scene, when he sneezes, the bowl is suddenly gone.

    • When Larry's mirror shatters, look carefully and you can see a small hole with a thin blade sticking out of it that was used to break the glass from behind.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Jane: It's my husband!
Shemp: But I thought you were separated.
Jane: We were, he was on a trip. That's separated, isn't it?

    • Larry: (to Moe) Hey, what the hey?
Moe: (to Jane) Who is this spotted raccoon?
Jane: Oh, he tried to get engaged to me with that miserable little two karat ring.
Larry: Just a minute, that was two and a half karats, you gold digger!

    • (Larry looks at himself in a mirror.)
Larry: Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all?
      (The mirror shatters by itself.)
Larry: I break more mirrors that way!

    • (Jane stuffs Shemp's ring down the front of her dress to discourage him from trying to take it back.)
Shemp: There must be a way to get that ring without getting into trouble with the censor!

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Shemp: There must be a way to get that ring without getting into trouble with the censor!

Shemp is paraphrasing a Groucho Marx line from a similar situation in the Marx Brothers film At The Circus (1939).
