  • The Stooges become a publicity opportunity for a hypnotist and end up foiling an insurance scam in the process.

"Does my head look like a steam pipe?" "No, a steam pipe hasn't got ears!" This short marks a great balance between plot and slapstick gags, and has plenty of laughs. Mary Ainslee as crooked "cripple" Mary does a wonderful job. The scene where the Stooges prepare breakfast for her is a highlight, especially Shemp's battle with the table legs. The second reel involves the Stooges dancing on a flagpole under the power of hypnotist Svengarlic. The special effects are lousy as ever, and the scene isn't particularly funny, but is crucial to the plot so it isn't hard to watch. An above average film.moreless
