  • When Joe's girlfriend's ring is taken, the Stooges must challenge the bully that they believe took it.

"He's a good looker, and not a bad leaper!" Silly wordplay and fat jokes galore decorate this short. Like many of the late 50s Besser shorts however, it's mediocre overall. Maxine Gates is wonderful as Tiny, Joe's plus sized significant other. Her comedy is well appreciated, especially her wrestling match finale. The drawback is that it is clearly a double fighting in her stead. The Stooges packing crates is also a highlight, mainly when Joe breaks the eggs. Moe treating Joe for a "heart attack" is both original and crazy. Not a bad Joe Besser short, but not a classic either.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • At the beginning, Moe makes a reference to a grocery delivery going to "Adler & Company." This is an in-joke to Stooges screenwriter Felix Adler.

    • When Joe spills the crate of eggs all over the floor, he groans in anger in two different ways at once. One of these sounds was obviously dubbed in.

    • When Joe says "They're wonder snoopers.", he's about to say something else, but the scene changes and it is cut off.

    • When Tiny begins beating up Elmo with some incredible wrestling moves, it is quite obvious that "Tiny" is not only a stunt double, but also a man.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • (Joe watches Tiny lift a barbell.)
Tiny: Come on, Joe. You do it.
Joe: Yeah, well I'll be seeing ya...
(Joe tries to walk away but Tiny stops him.)
Tiny: Joe! Come on! Pick it up!
Joe: Pick it up? I can't even bend!

    • Tiny: Oh Joe, you're too fat! Look at your head!
Joe: Aw, that has nothing to do with it!

    • Joe: Doctor, is it serious?
Moe: A slight case of musical cardiac, rock and roll type. A lot of fat around the heart and plenty of it around the head. Strenuous exercise is what I recommend.

    • Moe: Take a mouthful of water, but don't swallow it. If you please.
(Joe holds the water in his mouth, as Moe moves Larry in front of his face.)
      Moe: Now say "pink pill".
      Joe: Pink pill!
(Joe misses Larry and spits the water all over Moe.)
Moe: That's an involved case of high water pressure!

    • Moe: Larry and I are going to do a little snooping and try to find Tiny's ring.
Joe: Yeah! Do a little snooping for me too!
      Moe: Right.
      Joe: They're wonderful snoopers!

    • Larry: Let's look before we leap.
Joe: Yeah, he's a good looker. And not a bad leaper!

    • Joe: Kiss me, baby!
Tiny: Oh, Joe! Get rid of that gum!
Joe: Gee Tiny, don't I always?
(Joe sticks the gum to the bottom of a table.)

    • (The Stooges realize that they'll have to fight Elmo the bully)
Moe: This is a man's job!
Larry: Where will we find one?
