Shemp has been suffering from hallucinations, but Moe and Larry cannot afford to keep in the mental hospital and are forced to treat him at home. Shemp also announces his plans to marry Nora, a nurse at the complex, whom he imagines to be a beautiful woman (although she's actually quite ugly).

After Papa and the Stooges knock over the phonebooth, Papa puts his head through a panel in the phonebooth that had glass in it a moment before.
In the scene where Larry accidently swallows Shemp's sleeping pill, Moe can be seen in the background with a cigarette in his mouth.
Larry: I'd better have another drink, I can still see her face.
Doctor: How does your head feel?
Shemp: Oh, the usual empty feeling!
Doctor: What seems to be the trouble?
Larry: You're the doctor, you oughta know!
(Moe and Larry watch Shemp kiss Nora.)
Moe: He's got worse hallucinations than I thought!
Larry: Hopeless.
Shemp: Ain't she a dream?
Larry: Now I've really seen a dream walking.
Moe: Dream? She's a nightmare!
Larry: Hey, you know? I think she's uglier than you are.
Larry: I've got a brainstorm!
Moe: (to Shemp) Anything in his brain is a storm.
Moe: If you're good, will give you some c-a-n-d-y.
Shemp: You know I don't smoke.
This short's working title was "Impatient Patient".
The plaque at the sanitarium gives the names of Doctors Hart-Burns and Belcher. This joke is identical to a sight gag already seen in the Stooges earlier short A Gem of a Jam (1943).
The fight in the phonebooth scene between the Stooges and Vernon Dent is almost identical to a scene with Laurel & Hardy and Arthur Housman in the movie Our Relations (1936).
