One of the best of the entire 1950s. Although the concept had been previously used in "Ants in the Pantry" (1936), this version far outdoes its predacessor. We are made to symphatize more with the Stooges in this version, seeing that they are down on their luck. Several scenes are reworked nearly verbaitem, such as the sequence where Moe and Shemp hide pests in Mrs. Castor's bedroom. Other scenes are done far better than the original such as Vernon Dent's dance with the mouse down his back, and the cats in the piano. There are a few new sequnces that deserve mention, most notably the knives up Emil Satka's sleeves. The ending pie fight is very funny, although over half of it is stock footage from earlier shorts. Well worth a look.
