"Hail, hail Hailstone the dictator!" The first American WWII political satire ever released, and it gives the Stooges a chance to shine. This short has an excellent balance of slapstick, sight gags and verbal gags, which only get better as time progresses.
The slapstick is fast paced and fun, such as the conference and golf club fight scenes. The verbal gags, some of them Yiddish references, are primarily used in the beginning of the film, especially during Moe's speech, which is so amazingly stupid and funny at the same time. The ending, involving lions and an angry mob, is a bit too frenetic, but the short still is a Stooge masterpiece.
