The Decency Squad are reminiscent of the old Golden Age superheroes.
Capt. Decency is only active in the flashbacks; he sleeps throughout the entire episode.
Johnny Polite resembles Batman's sidekick Robin (particularly the Silver Age comics' Robin).
The Living Doll and SufraJet are apparently married.
Johnny Polite isn't seen in the present, nor is there any mention of whatever became of him. In the Tick book "Mighty Blue Justice", there is a page honoring the superheroes' deceased sidekicks, all named Johnny, who were all seemingly killed in the line of duty. There is also a memorial to a Johnny sidekick on the door of the Sidekicks' Lounge in "The Tick VS The Tick", so perhaps Johnny Polite met with an untimely end during one of the Squad's missions.
Handy: (After the Human Ton slips and falls on the Visual Eyes' eyeballs) Well, that was an Oedipal moment.
Everyone stares blankly at him.
Handy: Sophocles? Oedipus Tyrannus?? The guy tears his own eyes out??? READ A BOOK!
The Living Doll: I'm full of tinier men!
Visual Eye: (reminiscing) The Ray-gun was the worst! One blast from that sucker turned half a town into a guy named Ray!
The Tick: Arthur!! Is it a diamond yet?!?
The second appearance of The Human Ton and Handy.
In this episode, Handy wears an eye patch. (Arthur dislodged his other eye when he stomps on him in "The Tick VS Arthur's Bank Account".)
The Decency Squad consists of: Captain Decency, his sidekick Johnny Polite, The Visual Eye ("Rockets from the sockets!"), The Living Doll (He's full of tinier men!) and SufraJet ("I vote for goodness!")
We finally find out what the Tick's antennae do - they let him maintain his balance.
The Terror's mask looks a lot like Cobra Commander's from G.I. Joe.
This episode's title may be a play on the 1947 musical Mother Wore Tights, starring Betty Grable and Dan Dailey, about two vaudevillians who marry and find fame as they raise a family on the road.
