My wife and I were in the audience that night. This episode made it into Johnny's original set of highlight videos that were released in the 1990s. During the Art Fern Teatime Movie - with Teresa Ganzel playing the Teatime Lady role that Carol Wayne had formerly played for so many years, Johnny's mustache kept slipping & finally fell to the floor, where a stagehand had to retrieve it for him but was unable to stay completely out of camera range. Johnny started laughing so hard that he completely lost his composure and couldn't go on. So they finally stopped the sketch and went to a commercial break. During the break, Freddy deCordova, the director, tried to convince Johnny to start the sketch over when they returned from commercial. But Johnny was adamant that he wasn't going to try it again - he wanted to just go on with the show, and he put his foot down. For those of us in the audience that night, there was no doubt about who was the boss - Johnny got his way, and they continued the show WITHOUT ever completing the Teatime Movie sketch. That night was also notable for a member of the audience interrupting Johnny's monologue, trying to correct something that Johnny said about it being the anniversary of Harvard College. A security official removed the man from the studio. To add to the hilarity, humorist Lewis Grizzard told some hilarious stories about his recent trip to the Soviet Union. George Benson provided the musical entertainment.moreless
