  • The debut of Tonight! America After Dark was a complete fiasco.

    0.1
Jack Gould of the New York Times labelled the premiere episode "a coast-to-coast disaster". Readers of TV Guide weren't any kinder. One wrote that "The Allen and Kovacs shows, at their worst, were ten times better than this show is at its best". Another sarcastically thanked NBC because now he went to bed early and got a good nights sleep every night.

    • A real fiasco. Jack Gould of the New York Times in his review called this debut "a coast-to-coast disaster." Readers of TV Guide weren't any kinder: one sarcastically thanked NBC because he now went to bed early and got a good night's sleep every night. Ratings plunged, affiliates dropped the show, and after six months NBC went back to a talk/entertainment format with Jack Paar as the host.
