      • Brian: Listen, if all you're going to do is judge me, then--
Millicent: I am not judging you! (pauses) I'm criticizing you.

      • Chuckie Lee: I have to say, I'm very disappointed in you, Mary Sue.
Mary Sue: Get off my back!
        Millicent: What's the problem, kids?
Mary Sue: I don't know why Chuckie Lee's bugging me about my report card. I got all E's, which means "Excellent!"
Chuckie Lee: No, you didn't. Tell Mama what you got in Conduct.
        Mary Sue: E-minus.
Chuckie Lee: Now tell her why.
Mary Sue: Okay, if you must know, I ate paste.

      • Molly: Look, Dad, I just wanted you to be proud of me, and I thought I could do it all by myself, but then I realized that was stupid. The book report was Dorothy Jane's, and I just copied it.
        Brian: (long pause) Oh, Molly.....
Molly: But I didn't copy this book report. This is the one I did all by myself. Look, I'm really sorry, Daddy, but I did the best that I could. Face it, I'm just average. You can compare me to Dorothy Jane all you want, but I'm never going to be as smart as she is.
Brian: (hugs her) You did your best, and I am very, very proud of you. You are way above average.

      • Dorothy Jane: Gosh, Molly, I didn't know you read Pride and Prejudice. What did you think of it?
Molly: Oh, it gave me pride, it made me prejudice. Gotta go!

      • Dorothy Jane: Molly, don't you understand? What you did was cheating!
Molly: Well, that's one way of looking at it.
Dorothy: That's the only way of looking at it!

      • Molly: I was so proud of my B, and then you came along with all your A's. I can't compete with you, Dorothy Jane.
Dorothy Jane: I never asked you to.
Molly: No, but my dad did.

      • Dorothy Jane: I'm going to go upstairs and study.
Brian: (to Molly) See? She gets B's, and she's gonna go study more. What does that tell you?
Molly: That she needs to get a life.

      • (Dorothy Jane is upset about her report card, Millicent is reading it)
Millicent: Dorothy Jane, you got two B's.
        Molly: See, B's are good!
Millicent: And the rest are A's!
Molly: See there, the rest are all--what? The rest are all A's?!?! Two B's. You got two B's, and you think that's bad?
Dorothy I just never got a B before.
        Molly: You disgust me.
