  • I am woman hear me bark!

This episode takes on a subject that's just as relevant today as it was back in the 1980s and that's domestic violence. A woman is able to stand up to her abusive and adulterous husband thanks to a statue of a dog she received from her sister. The supernatural hook though is that her anger and her rage manifests itself in reality as the dog in the statue comes to life to protect her from her husband. The real of this episode comes at the end where the husband breaks the statue and thinks that's the end of his wife's phantom dog. It's clear though that the statue was not the source of the power, but the woman's strength as the phantom dog continued to manifest. They could have had the dog kill the man but instead the episode shows the wife leaving, under threat from the husband, but knowing that she'll always be protected. The dog being a symbol of the woman's strength to stand up to the abuse of her husband. It's a poignant story that's still inspirational to the many women (and men, to a lesser extent) who are victims of domestic abuse.
