  • The Zone receives a "comics" touch.

    7.0
The director in this episode took the Twilight Zone to a new level: comics. I felt as if i were watching "Dick Tracy, the movie" (1990) Which is one of the worse movies i have ever seen ever. WE have this comics like photography all the time and the characters look and talk cartoonish. The story is not that bad, but with the whole tales from the crypt feeling it is very hard for you to think that you are watching a good story, not because Tales From the Crypt is bad, but because the story is very weak, it doesn't come any close to it. Not a bad episode but it is not godd either, it just is.moreless
  • Wonderful - they blew the budget on the last episode!

    9.5
"It's just a simple, little story," is how Harlan Ellison described it but fortunately the producers at TZ3 decided to do this simple, little story justice by shooting it as best they could.

The acting is as sharp as the dialogue - "Mr. Arky Lochner, a well-known petty crook, sidebar six-for-fiver shylock, registered coward, and owner of a yellow streak so vivid it could be slathered on a hot dog." - Wayne Robson does a great job of portraying this little creep, and the sets and the costumes make it perfect.

An episode that compares favourably against any of the best of the first season's output and again demonstrative of what was possible when you throw a little bit of money into the mix - a most memorable journey into the Twilight Zone.moreless

    • (Opening Narration)
Narrator: As certain as death and taxes we are told that the meek will definitely inherit the Earth, perhaps, but not always. Consider if you will Mr. Arky Lochner, a well-known petty crook, sidebar six-for-five or shylock, registered coward, and owner of a yellow streak so vivid it could be slathered on a hotdog. Mr. Lochner was written out of the will when the meek were guarantied their inheritance and just now he is trying to avoid another kind of pay off, a soulful payoff, in that off-track betting parlor we call the Twilight Zone.

    • (Closing Narration)
Narrator: Oh, Arky, Arky. Poor Mr. Lochner. In the magical, mystical bookie parlor we call the Twilight Zone, there's an old, old, very old saying: "Making a deal with a demon is seriously crazy. But making a deal with a master of demons, well, that's crazy as a soup sandwich."
