Andrea is a DJ who works the graveyard shift at radio station KGRR. She still is angry and upset over the sudden disappearance several years ago of her boyfriend, a struggling singer. Her DJ colleague buys her the only record her aspiring boyfriend ever recorded in an attempt to make her feel better.
That night Andrea plays the record and her boyfriend appear out of nowhere inside the radio station. The first thing Andrea does is slap him for having disappeared all this time and not informing her. She also throws the record at him and Simon disappears. Later that night when Andrea leaves work, Simon is waiting outside for her and saves her from a speeding motorcycle coming at her.
Andrea and Simon head to a diner to continue talking but it is too much for Andrea who suddenly leaves, saying she can't make the same mistake twice. Sometime later that day, the Nightsong record starts to play by itself and she turns it off thinking it is a joke, but she finds Simon appearing out of nowhere once again. He promises her that he is harmless now and that he has something to show her.
They head to a desolated part of town where Simon tells her about the way he got scared when his first record was about to be released. He took his bike and drove through the area but his brakes stopped working and he crashed and died, and his body was never found. Andrea starts to cry and tells Simon that she loves her. Simon answers Andrea that he knows she loves him and that's why he saved her. Finally, Simon shows her his skeleton from the bike accident and disappears, asking Andrea to forgive him. That night at work, a woman asks for Nightsong and Andrea, feeling much better, plays the record.
