This episode is not one of the stronger stories of the 1985 Twilight Zone series. Nonsense abound as a lovestruck couple in an early 20th century boarding house try to hide their love from the EVIL superintendent, the girl's father and a real religious wackjob. His over-the-top antics (threatening to kill his daughter's boyfriend, then eventually attempting to do so) makes only a little more sense the episode's supernatural hook which involves some mysterious book that if you just concentrate on these random lines, your soul can leave your body and enter another world.... as a wolf. Predictably enough, the couple find their way to this world leaving their body just as the father's about to shoot the boyfriend. So the moral of the story is apparently if your parent doesn't approve of your relationships... especially if that parent is the evil book burning, bible thumping type... just run away, to another world if possible, and everything will be better. The story was predictable and trite, even for the 1980s, and the supernatural element that Twilight Zone so loves to employ falls flat on it's face.
  • Forbidden love affair between young couple is finaly consumed in another world.

"Song of the younger world" and its following episode"The Girl I married" are two stories pretty much about love. The usual love story in which one of the parents or both are against it. Once again, i am not a fan of love stories in the twilight zone so i didn't enjoy this very much. The only character i think delivers a strong and solid performance is the evil father, Mordecai, who managed to make me feel like ounching him in the face. To me that means he was acting great, because any performance that can arise such emotions in you, has to be very good. Once again no aliens or time travel, thats why i give this episode such a low grade.
