what can i say about this episode is AWESEOME! even this is adapted series from the classic number, but for me this The After Hours 1986 is better. the clssic number is quite dull and plain, but this one is more real! i have watched it since i was 7-10 years old if im not mistaken, until now, if i go to the shopping complex at the night (especially when most of the shops are closed), i can feel the aura of the mannequins... no doubt. i went for midnight movies and the environment of the shopping complex at night is similar to this episode of Twilight Zone... you all dont trust it? try and feel it by yourself 1st... then u know...
This and the episode of the same title from the original show share a high concept: what if mannequins were sent out to experience the real world for a month but forgot they were mannequins? But it's a thin concept, especially in this go-around. Why did all the mannequins have to be so cryptic? They could have saved a lot of trouble if they'd simply told Marsha what she was immediately instead of being coy. Why have a prolonged chase if they could change her back to plastic anytime? The answer, of course, was that then the episode would be all of two minutes long.
The one place where this version is superior is in production values. Instead of the tight confines of a department store set, it was filmed in a real shopping mall. It's a nice reminder that the 1980s was when malls became the glitzy temples of commerce and daily hangouts that they are today.
