  • Humans return to earth after hundreds of years of abandonement. In the other hand, survivors want to escape from it.

    8.0
Just because this epsiode has a spaceship and ghosts i am giving it an 8. The special effects are the best in this season where we are presented with beautiful landscapes, a pretty cool abandoned city and beautiful and very real building interiors. Although the story is not perfect and has it flaws i don't consider this an episode about space exploration, i think it is an a episode about humans and their hearts. The humans on the planet are guilty for destroying the earth, yet, they think they can leave and start life somewhere else by susing the same methods that put them in that situation. Great episode and one of my favorites from this season.moreless
  • Rather nonsensical

    5.5
A good try at an ecological story, laying blame where it belongs, on people who just don't care. Unfortunately, there were just too many problems with the script. What were these ethereal beings? They're described with a lot of conflicting dialog. They've "always been here," implying beings that pre-date humanity. Yet they're the final humans who couldn't get off-planet when the world died. The Earth had sat decaying for the last 1000 years, yet the professor was able to just drop a CD into a player and it ran as if it had brand new batteries. The oxygen level was supposed to be zero as indicated by their screen, yet Jacinda talks about iron rusting (oxidizing). Science aside, it could have been a much better story if they'd skipped the ghostly aspect and made it the story of a man who was willing to give his life to save what was left of the planet. No deus ex machina of supernatural forces reshaping the Earth after being shamed with speechifying platitudes, but a man who stayed behind as the last of the others fled the dying planet, treating it as something to be discarded after use, like a disposable paper cup. He could be staying behind to finish building then begin operating machinery that would slowly begin the millennia-long process of restoring the Earth to a livable condition after the polluting humans had left.moreless
