The first season of the new Twilight Zone is filled with short stories like this, as each episode was broken down into several segments. While some of these stories showed promise (The Children's Zoo, Dreams For Sale), Wish Bank is a rather stale recycling of an established science fiction cliche. The writing cleverly pokes fun of the genie in a bottle convention that the third wish must be used to undo the unforeseen harm done by the first two, but the DMV theme falls flat. In the end, the protagonist does have to use her wish to put things back the way they were, but why is this wish instantly granted while her other ones required hours of cutting through red tape? These ten minutes would have been better used to expand on more cleverly thought out short installments.
